Its not that complicated - time rules, and if riders can't be separated on time then the sum of their finishing positions on stages separates them.

I was like Ja but he's all about the team - I don't think he had much left after his lead out sprint, but at that point he maybe forgot about the subsequent yellow possibilities... sure he could have pushed on just a little after Gerrans kicked
