That’s kind of what I was saying. They’ve hiked the effective price up, but the demand has somehow still risen.

The Kool Aid must be tasty.

While I agree 100% with this, somehow the demand has been accelerated so I have entered now. Was planning on December sometime but not prepared to risk missing out. Bit of a bugger to find affordable flights, good like to those who will leave that part to the last minute (our usual plan). Seems things are selling out WAY quicker than usual. I wonder how they extra 500 entries that they will release in a few weeks time will get there....

Well, we're either all suckers and have fallen for the hype.... :whistling:

Or we are going to be among the chosen few to actually have gotten an entry..... Time will tell.

In related news, Ironman really kills the cashflow

Entered last night at 22:55. So was probably ons of the last ones to get a spot

Probably. I entered yesterday, wanted to pay this morning and couldn't log in to pay because it was full.

Had to phone them and they processed my payment manually.

Yes, when you try to enter it tells you there's a waiting list available.

There are already about 120 people on the waiting list.

I am not sure I understand this.............

There is a waiting list..... Why???????????

IM has no substitute policy and NO REFUNDS so why is there a waiting list?

If I cant race anymore for whatever reason what incentive is there for me to tell them that? Why? So that they can take another R4,250 off another athlete to take my place??

Also I really hope this "non-sub" rule of theirs don't force sick or undertrained athletes to take part in April due to the price tag and cause harm to themselves.

I agree completely. If there is a no substitution policy what is the point of a waiting list?

Only reason I can think of is that they are thinking of 'adding' some more entries...If the 'waiting list' reaches lets say 500 they say hey, more entries available at the bargain price of R5k!!!

My conspiracy theory is that it isn't really full and all part of marketing. "Additional" entries released later

Yep cuz then everyone will jump in without thinking twice.......

My bet is the "extra" entries opens this weekend!
