  1. Remember this, and 2012 was such a K@K year weather wise as well.....
  2. That's always been my understanding. If you don't do it yourself, its considered outside assistance and you get DQ'd. I remember 1 year, think it was IM2012 or 2013 it was mentioned that the mechanics can coach you how to make the repair (talk you through it), but they weren't allowed to physically touch your bike or something like that. There was also talk that they weren't allowed to physically hand you anything either. They would put it on the ground, and you could then pick it up and make the repairs. Interesting question, guess it all depends on the umpire that see's it and how much of a stickler for the rules he or she is.....
  3. The other thing you need to consider is about exposing all the other athlete's to what ever it is?
  4. Good luck to everyone racing on Sun. Will be on the sidelines cheering.
  5. I'm back. Just need to find the 5k lying around. Put on 8 kg since the last one i did. Look like a little porky pie.
  6. All depends on if the race is draft legal or not. Draft legal races will disallow TT bars, as it is a saefty hazard. (Difficult to slam on breaks if you in a bunch and are on your bars, added risk of impaling someone) Non drafting races (IM, 70.3 & 5150) all allow TT bars. If you on the fence, Go with a road bike, you can buy clip on's and look at changing your seat post. to get into a more aero postion. As mentioned above, relatively easy to go from a road bike to TT set up but difficult to go the other way round
  7. Wonder how long the sponsorship is for? 3 years? 5 years? 1 year?
  8. Just double check the race guide for the rules. Its run by the same guys that run IM & 70.3, and I know in IM & 70.3; mountain bikes are specifically not allowed. Otherwise on a ss with those hills you gonna K@K big time
  9. Might be a little late to the party, but I'll give a +1 to sailfish. But a quick interwebs search shows they quite hard to come by in SA.
  10. Why on earth would you want Tubbies?
  11. I second the new balance tri shorts, really are great. Have 2 pairs. Much cheaper than the triathlon branded shorts.
  12. I also had the whole profile design straw thing going. Nothing wrong with it, but it does spill all over the show. Switched to the Xlab torpedo system, and haven't looked back. Personal preference is the Xlab now.
  13. Well done for taking the initiative.
  14. FYI Garf, as a present to you the nice people at IMSA have decided to change the route. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.....
  15. Happy Birthday Garfield!!! One more year under the belt. What age do cats normally hit their physical peak?
  16. Total Immersion gets my vote too. Took a course this time last year, really helped. Well worth the investment. Obviously its a subjective thing, but I reckon it took about 20 min off my IM swim this year.
  17. Saw the comment on Pauls twitter feed, haven't seen anymore information about it though
  18. IMO, if you have one discipline that is significantly weaker than the other 2, obviously work on that discipline. Relativly speaking, the swim is short comapred to to the bike and run, so a 5% increase in speed is not going to result in a major decrease in your overall time. But a 5% increase in speed on the bike and run (depending on the distance) will result in a significant decrease in time. Agree with Andyr249, many people loose it on the run, but that is normally due to pushing to hard on the bike, and bonking on the run. If this is the case, make friends with Mr Brick sessions, and get use to running off the bike. Depending on your tansition speeds, you can also save a good 5-8min, if you practice those, depending on how quick or slow you are now, Its time for free really. You alse need to train at the same intensity that you aim to race at if you a 7min per km training runner, you are not going to run a 4min per km come race day. The annoying thing about getting faster is that its not only based on training, you'll need to nail the taper and nutrition as well, otherwise you gonna have a bad day out. But thats just my opinion,
  19. Indeedo, entered last week. Isn't it on the 22nd?
  20. Post pic's of your TT- bike when you done. Wuld be keen to see what it looks like.
  21. I used DarkHorse. Fantastic service and wheels look badass. Shane was very, very helpful.
