I hear what you are saying and if you feel strongly about it you should be able to get a full refund under the consumer protection act as you were 'misled'. I hope to see you on the start line thought

.

By you saying that you are agreeing that it was not done in the correct manner. And by bringing that word into this makes it clear that we were all misled. That is what my gripe is but so be it.

You will see me on the start line. I said earlier I have accepted the new challenge. I did state I was looking for a new challenge and thats why I entered IM 2014 after a 2 year lay off, however the challenge has changed. I can also promise you I won't be lining up at the start line with a long lip dragging along the beach either. I am very excited to start the training and looking forward to getting back into shape.

No need for a new thread. We discussing Ironman 2014 and this is the thread. This will all blow over as does everything else in life.

My point being that if you feel you were misled then you have a case(regardless of if I think it is right or wrong) - I think that is the basis of the act. ie one mans voetstoets is not another's. I didnt have the expectation of the old course so I don't feel misled. But im no expert

I started a thread none the less to speak of further things besides this race and obviously to avoid that unnecessary negativity (not debate)

See you on the line and for a beer later in the day!

Is that bold bit a fact?

Yes.

Swim route was described as (all my wording):

Lap 1: Swim out for 300m, turn left at a red buoy, swim for 500m until a yellow buoy, turn left for 100m to another yellow buoy, turn left and swim 450m to a red buoy where you will turn right and swim 150m to shore. Lap 1 was 1.5km.

Lap 2: Same 300m to red buoy, turn left and continue past the first yellow buoy (total distance of this stretch now 925m) to a red buoy, turn left and swim 100m to another red buoy, turn left and swim 825m to the last red buoy (passing the second yellow buoy), and then right to the final stretch of 150m. Lap 2 was 2,3km.

Hi Bubblez

Hello Bubbles and Davem

I don't know how it happened. Everything was going so well. My bike was sold, tekkies put away. I stopped for 3 full months. I felt great, I even picked up weight... then it happened.. I had a relapse and entered IM again. Forgive me...

I lost concentration for that one second

Someone can like to be lying...this here thread was opened on 27 May 2013, barely a month after IMSA with the first words being..."So I have taken the plunge and entered..."

You are doing better than I.

My bike sits in my entrance hall waiting for me to get home. I stroke her lovingly every night. She gives that skeef look when I go to work. I know I am neglecting her. The weekend my love, the weekend.

Because I am committed to her, I now have to satisfy my fetishes by other means. I bought a new wetsuit that cost more than my first bike.

I want to buy her pretty things. I see a disc is in her future. That black carbon glinting in the sun will make her really happy.

We have a dirty weekend planned at Midmar in December. A whole lot of her friends will be there. Wonder where that will lead?

Tri and Ironman are two different things. IF you're talking about trio's in general, then the rule is drafting is legal - olympics. Ironman is totally different with different rules... Just an FYI

Not to start a new debate but this drafting thing only came in recently - it was never part of Triathlon in any way no matter the distance. It was done recently to make the sport "spectator friendly" especially for the olympics. Triathlon used to be you by yourself.... Now you have teams in the Olympics.

Each country has to gain points on the world series. The more points the more slots you get.

Britain got three slots. They took the Brownlees and another oke who could swim and cycle. That oke swam and then cycled in the front (keeping the other guys like Murray in the second bunch behind). Brownlees basically had a free ride (most of the way) and then ran away with Gomes as you saw.

So forgive me if I refer to Tri as non drafting........ :w00t:

I am looking to sell that Zipp Disk Dave. Interested? If you are bring R8,000 in unmarked bills to Midlands Ultra. Meet me behind transition right after the race. Nice Tubbie and 10 speed cassette included. (Campy but runs perfectly on my Dura Ace groupset)

Strongs on the recovery Fabes, luckily you have more than enough time and a good base (I assume).

Friend of mine had a hernia operation 3 weeks ago, out for another 3 weeks and starting all over....

Nice

I don't have a program. I try and do long distances 3 - 6 weeks before the event and then speed work from 3 - 1 week to the event. The speedwork thingy is new to me but makes a massive difference.

In the past I have always said - whatever you need to do on the day you need to be able to do in a week. This time I have done 2 and a half that. My longest weeks included 60km running and 250km biking.

Swimming was left for way too late so I will have to settle for a 40min swim at midlands and then play catch up....

I also like to do run/cycle races so when they happen in Bfn I will plan my training around them... I am doing the Kersie this weekend!

After Midlands I will have to reset my radar for IM. Start over with base training.....

She's a fussy thing. Only wants a clincher! But Zipps are a girl's best friend.
