Hi Forum

I need to have a Lefty Shock fitted to a Cannondale Taurine frame. The LBS has quoted my in the region of R450.00 to have it fitted. I would like to know if this is excessive or is it in line with the other bike shops.

Thanks

Steven

The Taurine is 1.5" so no adapters needed but do you have all the bearings and upper seal?

Steerer tube or OPI?

Its quite easy to fit, there are diagrams in the user manuals of all the bits. Its made easier if you have an Ernie (Round Al special tool) to line it all up, but can be done without it, if you have some mechanical experience / know how. Worst case is you will mess up the upper seal.

if it needs a adaptor then this is friggen cheap .

if its a straight fit ( no extra parts needed ) then just do it yourself .

or if you love your LBS , then let them do it .

It is a straight fit - no adaptors needed. I have never done this before though. Can someone then give me a rundown on how to do it.

After watching the video - even though this is fitting a lefty to a BMC - it seems fairly easy. Only thing I need to get is a Torque Wrench to torque the bottom clamp bolt to 6Nm as per the video.

Torquing by hand is easy.

Tighten it until you hear a "crack" then loosen one full rotation.

The tricky bit is getting the holes from the arms of shock fork lined up with the frame and the top seal in place, that's where my friend Ernie comes in hand
