Mmmm........... Think I will skip this and rather do the Wolsley race and the new race at Van Loveren on the 10th of Aug which combined will cost me about the same as this race.

I hope it is successful for them!

The Wolsely & Van Loveren races, are run under the auspices of the PPA, with reduced/lower Entry fees for PPA members ONLY; non-members have to pay more.

As an Event organiser, we need to charge Entry fees that are market-related and allow us to make a Profit.

Most participants do not actually realise what expenses are involved/incurred in putting on an MTB event, especially without a Sponsor. There is also Cape Pine who needs to be paid a per person rate for each Participant.

For the record, we had a succesful event in 2012, especially considering that the weather was not that great for starters, it was put on at short notice, and without a Spnsor.

Cheers,

Geddan

I understand Geddan. I was totally sincere when I said I hope it is successful. My comment for rather doing the other 2 are purely from a personal financial point of view

Glad its sunny, last year's mudfest (although fun) costed me a crapload of money in new brake pads / chain / cluster ect due to the mud.

Raining today over the cape. It's supposed to stop around 8pm. I hope that's enough time for it to dry out.

Anyone know how well the course will drain?

Posted

@Zilla There are a few spots that are always wet in winter due to mountain drainage. 90 % of the course will be relatively dry. Mountain Biking is a winter sport... Come ride. It's Bastille Festival and this town is pumping.
