Hi Omega man,

I'm keen on the day trip to Pila in Italy.

Thanks for organising.

cheers

Hey dude. Nice to hear from you. So Steilte/Helderberg has eaten 2 guys on the trip. You and Nico. Maybe I must stop taking people out there. Hehehe.

So I think the majority vote for Pila no complaints from me about that. Can drink beers anytime. Can't ride Pila any time.

Who's up for trying to do a full run? 11km 2300m. I doubt there are many dudes on the planet that could muster a full run there.

Haha. The prize could be an Aston Martin Vanquish. It makes no difference. No one is going to do a full run at Pila. There's an IXS race there the week after we leave so there might be a few pinners on the hill when we are there.

So that's it lads.

19 of us are going to Morzine for the last week in July and first week in August 2014. Thanks for putting your trust in me and all I ask is that you spread the word when we get back.

I've paid for all of the flights. I'll mail through your e-tickets individually. I'll also mail the chalet so we can get confirmation of the deposit (a necessity for a Shengen visa). If you are the lucky owner of a South African passport you need a shengen visa. The requirements are pretty basic.

  • Booked and paid for plane ticket
  • filled in visa form (I've got those for you)
  • You need to make a booking for an appointment at the consulate. Id recomend doing it sooner rather than later cos we are going in Euro Summer holidays.
  • insurance
  • valid passport
  • confirmed accommodation booking with the address and phone number of the chalet on it.
  • 2 passport photo's
  • 55 Euro a day available in spending money in a credit card. They want to know you aren't going to try get a job. Also internet banking goodies won't do. they want a printout from the bank.
  • Detailed Itinerary (I'll do an example one with all our flight details and accom)
  • The equivalent of 60 Euro in Zars for the visa application

Sorry I forgot to mention. Don't waste your money going through one of those companies that "do all the queuing for you" You have to present yourself in person at the consulate anyway and they aren't going to give you any more info than I've given you already.

You need to phone and make an appointment The number is available in the internet. I'll see if I can get it.

And heads up. Ask for a multi entry. Cos you WILL want to go back.

I need to renew my passport for 2015's Trans Provence trip anyways so multi-entry it is.

Breaking News We are doing 2 trips in 2014

Hey guys. For those that missed the October cut off. We have 19 people going so that trip is fully booked.

We are planning to do another trip in 2014. The pricing will be slightly different. The cost for this trip I'm afraid will be 24k. This is still cheaper than the Epic and there's another SA based company offering a 6 day trip to Chatel excluding lift passes for close to 22k so I think our trip is still a huge bargain. The dates are as follows.

Depart SA 17 August 2014

Depart Geneva 31 August 2014

The 31st of August is effectively the end of the season. Les Gets and Morzine typically stay open for another 2 weeks and Chatel opens on a few weekends after that but that's it. The linking lifts and all of the other bikeparks shut down till 2015 again.

For your 24k you get the following.

  • Flights. Return flights on Emirates to Geneva from either Cape Town or JHB
  • Airport shuttles between Geneva and Morzine on arrival and departure
  • Sharing Semi Catered Accommodation (Breakfast & Dinner is included) For lunch you’ll be out on the trails.
  • 12 day lift pass for 24 ski lifts
  • Access to 5 dedicated bike parks
  • 4 days of guiding and orientation riding
  • 2 weeks of riding on some of the best trails on the planet

Now for the smallprint

  1. The booking cut off for this trip will be 28 February 2014.

  2. 9 person minimum

  3. accommodation is per person sharing

  4. travel insurance, visa costs, spending money excluded

If you are at all interested please send me a PM or else we'll do just the one trip in 2014 and 2 in 2015.

Cheers

Duane

Today's Sample of Stoke comes courtesy of La Crosets in Switzerland. I've only ridden this trail once. In the rain. And mostly on my arse. But it was still fun.
