Black helmets very Hot?

Nope. Had a black Bell Sweep R, it was crash replaced with a white one which did somehow not fit exactly the same. Still have the white one, but now ride with a black Rudy Windmax. Colour makes no difference ito perceivable temp for me.

Black helmets are HOT.!

Hot as is in cool.

As in the cool group wears them.

 

Little impact on temperature.

Temparature impacted more by the design/number of vents.

A well ventilated black helmet will be as hot/cool as a white one.

I've had Bell Delerium and Sweep helmets which I wrote off in crashes. Currently have a Bell Volt and a Fox Flux. All of them were/are black and I've never had a problem with temperature - even when touring through the Karoo on the way to the Argus in temperatures above 45⁰C.

 

Never had a problem with the weight of the Flux either - actually find it very comfortable, even on long rides...

Flux didn't work for me. In fact the most uncomfortable helmet I've ever owned ..

I have a black MET helmet, no problem in summer

The layer of insulating polistyrene between the paint and your head will prevent you feeling any extra heat from the colour

Ja true that, zero viz to vehicles at night.

I'm going to put a few squares of 3M hi-viz yellow reflector tape in a few spots on mine, makes it look like I have spotlights on my head when the headlight hit it!

I roll with a lumo green one and black on brighter days.
