Where have all my "likes" gone?

There is a huge flaw in this like system.

Someone can get likes without saying a word or contributing anything positive.

Just see how many likes there are in the "Ladies without Bicycles" thread or the troll thread "I have an idea for a new thread"

Handbags get slung around and some guys like the bitchy comments also.

Why do we need to feel liked? I mean if you like me great, if you dont, not my problem!

Rather get the rating system working better

I see the like systems as a way to share someone's opinion / comment / hint etc, it also saves posts as you get less replies with "+1" or "agreed" etc.

I do see your point though in the other threads, likeing a picture that has been posted serves no real purpose and does not reflect anything about the OP

Yea see, I liked your post because I agree with what you are saying there, which is actually much better than 100 guys each posting "+1"

But to do we really need a (flawed) system that counts the number of likes you get?

Leave the Like function there as it is now but rather get the Seller Rating system fine tuned.

In the same light as 'any publicity is good publicity'

Any post made, is still a post made.

Posts/members keep this forum running- good or bad. Lure members away and your forum will follow.

Catch 22 if you ask me.

Edit: nothing to do with likes just saying.

If nothing else, I agree that it cuts down on all the +1s, imagine trying to navigate a thread, be it ladies and bikes or something a little more serious, with 100's of +1's all over the place.

I agree with Tankman, tweak the seller/buyer ratings better and keep the likes going.

May be the classified section could include a reference to the seller's rating on the add itself?

Will add much more value imo

The intention and focus is very much to improve and fine tune the seller rating system. The one aspect of this is ensuring there is a clear distinction between a seller rating and any other form of rating and to ensure there is no room for confusion.

I'll start up a separate thread with a focus specifically on how we can improve the seller ratings system. There are many things that have been said in various threads already and some improvements that have already been made based on these, but there is still some way to go.

+1 ...... kidding

100% agree, leave the like function but the total count of like is irrelevant, unless it is able to filter out the false likes (e.g. I like your picture but not your comments and views)

Not if it is a photo! ;)

Thought you talking about the name not photo.

Photo- because Alberto is awesome and I'm keeping up with current affairs - thats why ;)

i disagree. If a post makes me smile, laugh or nod my head in agreement (regardless of the content) its generally gets a like..which means that person who was liked has help to make the hub a pleasant place for me to go to.
