don't need connectivity anymore, with the BrytonBridge software you can save your tracks, so you don't need to upload and then download. took them a while but at least they sorted that part out.

do definitely agree, would be nice to just copy the files off the device... but alas...

My device has started giving me grief, a while ago it would hang half way through a ride. that was sorted after a complete reset. last night on the rollers, did a good session of 45mins at 41km/h avg, stop at the end, look in history and it failed to save the session *mutter!!!*

pity the Edge 500 is sooo expensive and doesn't fit into my budget at the moment.

That is a step in the right direction, so brytonbridge sits as an app on your pc, and you can change the format via it. so that other applications can read your data.

500's are cheap brother, with 510 being released, you could get one in a very good deal....check easygis.

Ja but you need connectivity to be able to do that and also its an extra step and just adds admin....and also when there are compatibility issues like Mike is experiencing, the thing is worthless. Ag nee man.

The reason it works well with garmin devices is that Garmin doesn't lock you into a their file format. Its a generic file type that strava and sporttracks can read, and they also allow you to...wait for it...navigate through YOUR device and YOUR data. They are sleek, good looking devices with awesome battery life, but they are dropping the ball wrt this....so much so that it puts people off buying one....well me anyway

The moment my Bryton packs-up I'm buying a Garmin...that being said, the Brytons have awesome battery life as you say!

i am tired of there always being a problem with the bloody thing...i want a garmin..no more ***

Ja wat Mike....I don't want to punt garmin here, but I can honestly say it hasn't given me a day's worth of kuk. Does exactly what it is supposed to do....capture data at 1sec intervals....it doesn't try and be smart, it just does what it is suppose to, and it does it well.

I got a Garmin 500 as well. Its been at garmin 4 times in the last 6 months, hangs, doesnt switch on etc. They keep it for a month, then send it back, works for a week then back to crap again. They have now given me a forerunner 405cx to borrow.

The strap doesnt have a clasp!!!!!!! So I just strap it to bars with paper clips etc. did a weeks rieding and wanted to download. OOOO the watch is WiFi. but I need a dongle type thingy. I must buy it for R700 WTF!!!

Asked where my 500 is, say it is still in for repairs, (From November 2012 til now - no luck yet)

Got a Bryton 50. No hassles on 3 of my PC's. I download the .tcx to my pc, then I have a backup. then I upload to Strava/Bryton/etc. Geez it's not so bad, it takes less than 20 sec....

Hi Waynehans, you probaly got that 50 recently, cause let me tell you, there has been many issues with Bryton downloads, its only recently been sorted out, so you probably caught them on the up and up?

I believe they have an office in honeydew....well that is where most guys go.

PS...that is not normal behavior of the 500, mine has worked every time on every ride for the last couple of years. Get it sorted

Feel the same way ... I guess I cant complain much as I got it on a groupon special. I just hate the fact you have to do all these McGuyver moves to get the thing to work. The recent accuracy has been abismal

Bryton users, do the following:

  • Connect via USB to computer
  • Save tracks to computer in .tcx format
  • Upload files to Strava, Fittrack etc
  • Easy peasy.

If you followed those steps it would not work

........ first download and install bryton bridge which allows your compuer to regognise the devide. If you were ono holiday and used someone else's computer to upload/download/save whatever it would not be possible.

so not so easy peasy

OK, OK, OK.

I was assuming you read the manual and installed Bryton Bridge2 first.

Then it's easy peasy

I would not accept that, they must either refund you or provide a brand new unit....As said before, they really are plug and play devices that works straight out of the box. Dont accept excuses...demand a new unit or upgrade to 510 with small pay-in.

Again, what value does this extra layer(brytonbridge) add....why does it need to go to it first to be able to use the data in other applications...why can't they just save the data in the device in a format that can be used everywhere else.
