Tokai bike theft

just heard on the news that a couple were robbed of their bikes in Tokai yesterday. Does anyone have any more news about what happened? time and where exactly?

Just got a call from one of the victims of yesterday's attack. Once I have spoken to him, I will provide some feedback.

Was at the bottom of Bridal Path single track.

I heard that it was "below the switchbacks". I'm thinking that could be those switchbacks coming down from the Nek (near the start of the tar road that goes to the mast). If that's correct, it sounds odd - hard to get there without going through farms, I think.

The thieves could use the farms as a quick exit.

Spoke to the victim a few minutes ago. 2 young , charley males, early twenties attacked them with large sticks.

They had actually passed end greeted them earlier. Another guy I know had seen these 2 characters at around 12, between Level 4&5 on the Muizenberg side.

Seems like they were moving around, looking for an opportunity.

Reports in the Cape Times and Argus this morning.

 

From what I heard, as yet unconfirmed,it sounds like the crims might have come from a neighbouring farm.

There was also an attempted Robbery at the Common ground Constantia church which is by the stone church in Tokai next to the wine farmes. I'll find out details and get back to you on that. They may be connected.
