The other option is to still go Honda but not S2000 but K18 or whatever they call them with the 2l conversion.

K20 I think it is. Yes. K20A2 @ 200HP. As seen in the vtec versions. Damn good motors. In fact, all of the k20 / k24 variants have the potential to perform above their listed power / torque figures if you do it right. Honda built a lot of fat into those things.

U knew a guy and Rad006 on the Hub knows him to who made 400wkw out of a k20. Granted it cost him like 150k or something but with JDM stuff its all off the shelf with pretty much guaranteed power.

Buddy Club parts etc.

Honda power... I have owned many B20vtec hybrids (2 litre B20 non vtec block mated to a B16a vtec head) and there is very little out there that will come close to the performance they offer for the cost. I now drive an S2000 and love every minute of it.

That being said a blacktop 20v 4age (what we got locally) (don't go for the silvertop) once bored 40 thou and adding 288 cams with stand alone management... you will be amazed!

I've driven an s2000. Took it for a test drive when I was still in durban. Still the most amazing car I've had the privilege of driving.

I've been driven in better, but that's the best I've driven.

VW motors are very similar, 2l 16v can make plenty power but okes want loads of money for them. I had 1.85l 8v with 106wkw 190nm used go like **** off a spade!

Ja. I'm a veedub man myself, but apparently you need a custom bell housing to mate them to a suitable gearbox. So that rules them out, unfortunately.

Edit: and if you find a 2l 16v somewhere, it's already gone by the time you pick up the phone. The dub community is very active in thay respect and WILL ensure that someone in their circles knows about it asap if one comes up. I mean, there's even a dedicated thread for gumtree bargains.

Birkin isn't an option anymore. They can't offer the chassis alone, which is a shame.

Where's the dislike button?

Good luck man. This is a real bottomless pit. I have fond memories of my old man's build.

Yep, I'm on there at the moment, and looking at all sorts of build diaries.

LOVE the sound of properly fettled 45's / 40's on a motor...

Ford BDA mlotor. Now that brings back memories.

Had one fitted to my 70's vintage Escort Panelvan (the "dogbone" version) It was stroked to 1780cc by none other than the Maestro Basil Green, 4x40mm Side draught Dellorto carbs,   4 speed Lotus gearbox and 302 Corsair diff.

Man, did that thing rev!! Ran out of steam at about 160km/h due to the short gearing, but nothing, I mean nothing kept up to 160km/h. Dropped many a V8 Capri Perana, Cortina Big Six, XR6, just name them.

But alas, someone else decided they needed it more than I did, and it was liberated from our driveway one night, never to be seen again.
