Road cycling Kensington, JNB

Good afternoon all, a newb to this forum & to Joburg. I am wondering if anyone could help me out with any information on road riding groups or clubs, training rides etc. in the current area I am located(Doris st, Kensington)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's a friendly club goes out from Bedfordview Virgin Active; Germistoon. Wheelers are also close(ish) down at Victoria Lake. Otherwise pm. Happy Martin if he doesn't come on here - he's in your area and rides extensively. Then Tony Impeys at the Bedford Centre will help with info. Apart from that, nothin - sorry.

What times are you looking at riding? I'm in the area, in symhurst. Ride during the night in the week and some Saturdays morning, around 8... Do a lot more hills than flats though. Oh and Sunday afternoons if the day is nice...

 

Let me know if you want to join and check the routes, fairly safe riding in this area as it seems most people take part in outdoor sports themselves so are more conscious of cyclists..

If Edenvale not too far for you then you can also try Edenglen Cycling club. they leave from Virgin Active at karaglen shopping centre at 6:30 Sat & Sun. 3 groups, beginners, intermediate and racing snakes. 2 of the groups have a pace car. It's a free association club, so you don't need to be a member to ride with them.

Probably the biggest club on the East Rand.

Hi Forme, get yourself down to Karaglen centre, Harris Rd, Edenglen on a Sat or Sun morning! Very friendly enjoyable riding with well organised routes and safety vehicles! You will be back again and again! Edenglen Cycling Club is the best club in the country!!
