Since my HT was stolen a few months ago I have been doing some research and shopping for a replacement FS. Because I am doing the Cape Epic next year, I assume a FS would be the better option.

My budget allows something in the 35k-45k region, thus I am looking at a Scott Spark 910 as a good option. The only problem is not one of the bike shops I have visited seems to have a LARGE in stock, waiting for new stock will take a while with a huge price increase.

Does anybody know of a shop that may have one in stock, or have a suggestion for another brand in the same price/spec region?

Thanks

Edit: Meant to post in Buyers Guide...concentrate.....

Try, Morning Side Cycles. Saw a few 910's there. Not sure on sizes there. If you wanna wait mine will be up for sale in the next couple weeks, if not sooner.

Thanks Johan, but I think that option will blow my budget.

Will give them a call Gnarly, thanks.

Really like the Specialized Epic Expert Carbon 29er, it is a shame that it is so expensive, does anybody know who stock these other than the concept stores?

Complete Cyclist or closer to you, Summit Cycles.

So it seems that most bike shops are out of stock on anything large in my price range, any thoughts on the Merida Big Ninety Nine Pro 3000? I can get one of these, but can't find any good reviews?

With that budget why not build yourself a Pyga?

I would like something carbon to save some weight, main purpose of the bike is for the Cape Epic. I am not an aggressive trail rider, more XC Marathon type.

Went for a test drive on the Scott Spark 900RC and Giant Anthem Advanced today, the Giant felt very upright with the Scott very aggressive. Read good reviews on the Giant, but the upright feel troubled me a bit, I assume another handlebar and stem angle would sort this out. Anyone riding one of these bikes?

Will have a look at the Pyga, they don't have large Scott in stock though. I thought I'd buy the best bike and skip training.... :whistling:

Nothing wrong with the Scott or the shock. The DT Swiss shock that they had on the 2012 bikes had a few issues but also not all of them. The new Fox shocks a brilliant. If you like it and the bike agrees with you, buy it. Its a good bike!! Try Linden Cycles or that horrible place called Cayees. They always have stock or if not, they can find it in one of their stores. Good Luck and enjoy it!!
