Morning all,

I had the 'pleasure' of riding this hill with some friends a while back, and would like to do so again.

Problem is : I don't know the area well, at all.

If I'm going to do this on my ace, what are the roads that make up this ride? Would be most appreciated if someone could give me 'directions' as to the route. Where do I start etc...

Much thanks!

B.

Do you want to ride on the road or dirt?

On the road - Start at the bottom at Olivia's coffee shop on Beyers Naude - follow Frederick up to the top via Hearn, Rocky - turn right through the boom gates into Louie and first right up to the water tower - go look at the view at the eco park :) there is also a short loop you can do on a narrow concrete path through the eco park if you are not too concerned about your road wheels.

There are several roads up and down the hill you can use - because you can see landmarks, it is pretty easy to get around - although there are a few dead end loops from time to time.

Off road on the south side is Alberts farm - you can gain access from Zulu road and go across the dam wall - just follow the paths - it is pretty small.

Edit - fixed the route to add street names after a look at a map.

Chat to Nancy Drew. It is actually a very easy route to follow. Go straight, then up, and up, and up, and puke, and up....

Repeat until you get over this lunacy of climbing.

Get rid of those gears and come and ride with us on the SS... :) NC is only about 130m of vertical climbing.... not a lot...

If you start at Olivias and ride to the base of the water tower, turn around and go back to olivias - repeat this till you have ridden 700km, and you have just done the Epic in both climb and distance... about 125 times to the top and back.... :)

Google maps is your friend here too - you can see the paths in Alberts Farm and the concrete strip in the eco park on the satellite view.
