Yes, the Engen Classic is also somewhere in October. Must just ratify that. 10 November, starting at Paarl Boys High.

New route sounds sweet. Up Helshoogte at beginning, Botmans Kop at around the halway stage, and lotsa roller on the way back. Gonna be a lekker one.

Thanks Wannabe, I also enjoyed the engen classic as I did it with the parents at a more relaxed pace.

Botmans Kop is very different experience at 110% effort with lungs on the handlebars compared to spinning freely waiting and cheering on. :P

Haha I find that profile very deceiving. When I saw those 2 massive spikes I got a big fright but the ascent(Y-axis) scale is strange :P

The scale of the Y axis is based on how it is going to feel. :)

And then it is about right.

Looks worse than it is. Helshoogte and Botmans Kop, both climbs is part of a number of race routes, so nothing new at all.

Just gotta pace yourself for the climbs, but don't forget the rollers inbetween the climbs and after, and then the wind.

Spot-on Wannabe, I think the latter could be what makes this hard or not. If our friend pitches up for a visit on the day... afkraaking will be in the order of the day on that return leg!

(O/T: Hoekom is jou "Province" Gauteng?!)

I'm looking forward to this. First road race since the Argus this year. :) I did it in 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed it, but found the heat to be the biggest challenge!

Hey there,

I'm looking to do some more seeding events for the Argus and I've only come across reviews by professional cyclists for this race. How challenging is it for average cyclist? I did the argus in 4:44 and the cutoff for the one tonner is 8:30. I do helshoogte for training so it isn't the hills I'm worried about. I just don't want to be the only cyclist on the road trailing hours behind all the professionals...
