Riario Posted August 27, 2013 Share I've been using Egg Beater 3 pedals for the last 4 years & never had any problems.However during this year's Sani2C, I experienced severe pain in my left knee. Day 3 was really difficult.But I was stupid to change the cleats the day before the start & didn't test them.Upon returning home I adjusted the left cleat & went for a ride.NO problems.So I have to agree it is not the pedals, but the bike setup. Any idea what the issue can be? Remove or add shim under cleat. I took the time to RTFM the weekend passed, bought me knew mtb skoene. ACM Posted August 27, 2013 Share Is it possible for crank brother pedals to cause knee and itb injuries? I've just bougth my 3rd pair of crank brothers.... Acid1, Candy3, Candy1. The only problem I had was on the very first set Acid1 I had knee pain, but adjusted the cleat position very slightly and problem solved. Kept shoes & cleat position the same and whent onto Candy3 (from Acid1) without any problems... never had a day's knee pain since adjusting cleat position. Watch your knee when you ride... if the knee moves side ways in the up and down pedalstroke movement, you probably need adjustment or inserts in your shoe to allign your foot / peddal / knee movement. Any idea what the issue can be? There are two options available to you:Should the problem be that your shoes have worn and this is causing the feeling of "too much play", there are tread contact sleeves available that will "build up" the pedal and tighten the fitYour second option will be available in about 2 weeks time. This is especially important on the more expensive shoes as they have deeper cleat boxes.  The shoe protection things are called Shoe Shields.
