Who is doing this race in Benoni on Saturday (31 August)?

 

I'm entered but it seems the weather isn't going to be on our side, it's going to be tough if the wind is pumping.

I did this last year and the wind was the worst, route is flat little bumps here and there

I also entered and keeping an eye on the weather updates. It seems that besides the wind we will have to deal with, we are gonna freeze our royal neh-neh's off.

My mate and I will see you there, just a windy afternoon run for us. I'll be bringing up the rear, did it last year - it's a rough ride back against the wind, saturday's weather looking hectic, maybe cold with pumping winds, good start to spring / summer riding, all the best to you Clay.

I'll be the but on the "wrong" bike ;-) Have asked to do sweep but not sure I'll get my favorite spot. If I don't I'll just have to do the roving thing after I get my bunch in. Say hi (wave or chat) if you see me... Short chick on white Suzuki DR (on/off road for non-bikers).

Entered for the 60km road race, this will be only the 2nd time since March that iv'e been on the road bike.

Wanted to do it, but am off to Nigeria today for a housing project. Did it with the wife last year. First half was very fast with the wind from behind, but going back was hard.

Just went to collect my number at CL Fourways... and I was thinking that the weather man must have made a mistake when they predicted a high of 11deg for Saturday... It's such a warm day outside today...

Fun rider world champs.

 

Be careful okes - the racing is serious there. Here are the rules for racing Benoni Fun Rider World Champs:

 

Don't make eye contact. Ever.

If you break away - stay away. You don't want anyone catching you. If you start to blow pull off the course and hide behind a bush.

Don't talk to anyone. If asked a question pretend you're a deaf mute. Better still write "deaf mute" on the back of your shirt.

Don't arrive with a stock bike. If it aint pimped to the max with titatium and carbon and has been drilled out to **** don't pitch.

If you see a purple man without a helemt do not - I repeat - DO NOT approach him. If you value your life don't say anything about people without helmets being idiots.

If your quads measure less than 90 inches stay at home.

If you think that EPO stands for Eerste Plek Opkikker stay at home.

 

Other than that have a great ride and enjoy :-)

I seriously hope they've got it wrong!! I can kinda deal with the cold but the wind is a whole different story...

And those open plot and farm areas outside Benoni is OPEN... the slightest breeze of wind there and it feels as if you have glue on your tyres. The wind always feels as if it's coming right from the front, doesn't matter how many turns you take on the road.
