So what's your Race spend so far this year?

Chasing strava segments on the spruit has cost me three hub srevices, a bleed kit, a doctors visit, antibiotics, brake pads and a sence of humour. Oh and R200 or so for the Dela Dash. P.s I forgot about the data costs for endomondo and strava.

this isn't a philosophy question, just plain arithmatic.

 

OK, let me have another bash at it. A couple of DH races, some new kit for said races and a fork service due to blown seals amounts to around R5k.

 

The enjoyment and pleasure derived from said spend cannot be quantified.

I have noticed that the races arn,t nearly as busy as last year .Magalies monster ,trailseeker ,mtn events ,eqsrta were all sold out a few weeks prior to the events last year .Only entry i still cannot get is a sani ,so now i do joberg2c instead .I prefer the smaller field anyway .Money spent .TOO MUCH and counting ! At least 50000

I would say about 45k just entry costs....

 

Biggest single spend was 20 000 on Freedom. By day 4 that Money was well spent.... By the time I reached Diemersfontein 2500km later I would have paid double...

 

Expedition Africa in the Drakensberg this year was also dear on the wallet but with early May snow and the course we covered it was an experience second to none.

 

I don't mind forking out for entries as long as the race is good. Really enjoyed the Grape Escape earlier this year actually and for 2500 zar for 3 fun days of riding and food all round the clock it is one more people should consider...
