seatpost / saddle mounted hydration for TT bike

I am looking at a new system for my TT bike, the one that I had was rubbish (TacX) admittedly it was cheep so I shouldn't have expected much. I am keen on the Xlab turbo wing, but cant seem to find one around Cape Town.

Any other options that people are using which are solid and hold a bottle securely?

The triathlon plus magazine has an advert in every month. It is one specific brand (X-lab or something) and there are about 10 different types of hydration options.

I use the Specialized rib cage, plastic one, cable tied under my seat.

It is cheap and works perfectly, did IMSA this year with it and many hundreds of training miles and did not experience one bottle rocket

I have a bottle cage cable tied between the bars. The most aero you are going to get.

In addition I have a cage on my seat tube which stays empty most of the time. Again shown to be the most aero place for a bottle on the frame - if used. Nothing on the back except a small bag carrying a spares kit.

Lightest and most aero solution possible (and the most cost effective).

The trick is to learn to take bottles from the volunteers. My bike now rides probably 2kgs lighter than my first Ironman when I rode with three bottles.

Its mainly for the training rides that I want some extra carrying capacity, including spares. I agree that for racing there is normally enough water on course to get away with using race nutrition stations. I think I will go for the between the bars option, I hope I have enough space, as I run a pretty tight setup.

If you ride a Cervelo I have a dual bottle cage X-Lab setup we can chat about that came of my old P3.

Unfortunately I ride a Canondale Slice so your XLab mount wont work on my bike, but if anyone has one of the special mounts that are made for the slice's seatpost lying around let me know

I have an Xlab on my B2 - dont think they are brand specific

I must not I also have a ISM saddle and works perfectly. I use profile design bottle cages (the super stiff ones ) on that

The standard X-Lab Turbo Wing fits nearly all saddles (I also have a Slice with an ISM Road saddle).

X-Lab make a different version specifically for the Cervelo seat post...

The X-Lab works well with decent bottle cages... I have to use rubber bands to limit bottle launches.

For shorter races I take it off and just zip tie a single bottle cage to the back of my saddle.

Otherwise I also use an X-Lab areo- bar cage mount for between the aero bars.

I use the profile design ones - with the built in elastic (plastic band) almost to hard to get them out

I also ride X-lab wing with two bottles in the back and one between the tt bars (torpedo mount). I also utilize the X nut for my bombs.

For 70.3 I will probably lose the wing and only ride with the torpedo mount.
