Is this for commute or just a ride? In the past I rode next to the railway line to olifantsfontein (base 3). From there it can not be more than 5km to Midrand. From my house to the base 3 dam, its about 94km

Maybe give Johan Labuschagne from cyclelab centurion a call.

He commutes daily from Centurion to work in JHB

If you are interested let me know and I will PM you his details

Well depending on where in Pta East, I ride up Hans Strijdom up and over the N1 till "van Ryneveld" road (By MacDonalds) there you turn left and head through Pierre van Ryneveld till Nelmapius.

Turn right and Follow Nelmapius all the way through to the Vehicle testing Station, at that traffic light turn left (towards Midstream), at the Midstream traffic lights turn right and head past Heritage Hill / Shoprite distribution centre till you get to Old Jhb Road.

Turn left on Old Jhb Road and "Bob's your Uncle"

Have fun!

What is it like on that bridge crossing over the N1 on Hans Srydom - looks seriously narrow and everytime I drive over it there seems to be a great deal of traffic and very little space for a bike?

There is a pedestrian bridge on the right (to Waterkloof high school's side) that joins Cliff lane

You can get onto the sidewalk to cross the bridge . It does not look like much but more than enough space

More than welcome to

Hi,

It's been a couple of months, but are you still commuting between PTA East and Midrand and do you find it a better alternative to sitting in traffic? If so, I would definitely want to join once or twice a week if possible...

How many MTB'ers have joined this group?
