Hey all

So two questions:

1. How do I remove a nipple from a tubeless wheel (the spoke seems to have stripped out of the nipple)

2. Can I ride as normal with one spoke out without buggering the rim (want to go riding G-spot tomorrow and not sure I'll get the spoke fixed by then).

Cheers

1. Remove the tire, remove the rim strip and you should be able to get the nipple out.

2. I have on a few occasions with no issues, I lost 2 spokes last week and the wheel became really "flexy" and got out've true quite quick but these were only seperated by 1 spoke, imho if they were on opposite sides it would also not have been a problem.

On most rims that means tyre off and tubeless rim tape off or if you lucky push the rim tape carefully to one side and old nipple removed and new one inserted. If you are not to heavy riding carefully with one less spoke for a ride should be ok, no hardcore trails though, just make sure the rim is running true as it is, would be wiser to have the spoke replaced now before riding again though.

I might be wrong but I think its something like this:

Remove spoke from nipple.

Get something small made of steel to attach to the nipple.

Push the nipple into the rim.

Use a strong magnate to draw the nipple along the rim to the valve hole.

Ta da!

(Or somehting along those lines)

That made no sense, the nipple is in the rim from what I can gather.

It will either be a brass or alloy nipple, no magnet is going to get that out.

That's why somehting made of steel needs to be attached to the nipple, like I said previously.

It's a Roval rim on my Stumpy. Alu nipples. Pretty standard - rim, nipple n spokes are exactly lik Stan's set-ups. So I reckon LBS can just sort it quickly?

Yeah, in around 45 minutes if they are pretty competent.

Firstly you need the correct spoke length.

Then remove the tire, take the rim tape off and get the old nipple out.

Put in the new spoke, true the wheel and clean and dry the rim thoroughly.

New rim tape , tire on with sealant and inflate.

Expect to pay for new tape, spoke (if old one is not usable), labour and perhaps even sealant.

No tape. It's a solid rim like I said. Just like the Stan's rims.

Stans rims are not solid either.

Trust me ,there is tape there.

Only Mavic , Shimano, Fulcrum to name a few have no eyelets for the nipples.

For these you need proprietary tools, spokes and nipples.
