Demo road bikes for test rides?

None of us would buy a car without a proper test drive, but in my experience its very difficult to get hold of a bike for a proper test ride in this country.

 

Are there any LBS's around who do have some demo bikes available?

Would be nice to be able to test bikes, but imagine the amount of test bikes a LBS would need to stock to cater for different sizes, wallets, makes etc

Sure not easy, but how do you make an informed choice until you have taken a bike for a proper ride?

When ever I have bought a new bike I have taken it for a test ride, sure not a long term (take it for a week) test but most shops I know have had no problem with me taking a bike out for an hour or so

LOL that thought actually crossed my mind yesterday. Lots of beautiful machines out on the cradle on a stunning herritage day.
