Ultimate Dream Build

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I know this is a bit random, but I've been dreaming and drooling for the past two weeks now on building my ultimate dream bike. It started off by thinking how I'd like to upgrade/ change my bike next. Then I started thinking how I could make it lighter and it all kinda went hay-wire from there.

For me, this would be my ultimate race bike. It's based on my current frame, but everything else has pretty much been replaced.

Components: Fondriest TF 3 1.2 Frameset; Zipp 404 Firecrest Tubular Wheelset; Ritchey Superlogic Logic 2 bars; Ritchey Superlogic C260 stem; Selle San Marco RegalE Carbon FX saddle; Elite Mejio bottle cages; Sram Red 22 Groupset with Quark Crank; Shimano Dura Ace 9000 pedals; Vittoria Corsa Elite Tubbies; Lizardskinz DSP 3.2 bar Tape and a Garmin Edge 810.

Estimate Cost will be around R110k. Estimated weight (using claimed manufacturer weights) around 6.1 kgs (without Garmin, with pedals)

I'm very interested to hear what you guys think of my build and of course what your dream builds are. It can be anything. Road bikes, XC bikes, single speeds etc.

Dream build?

Dogma 65.1 Think 2 in Matt black/orange, 11sp Super Record EPS, Zipp 404s FC Tubular, 3T finishing kit, Speedplay Ti pedals.

Total cost: $$$. Dunno, but probably > R150k

Your build sounds amazing though. When is it all going through?

Well as soon as I can sell one of my kidneys, it's a go!

I also had a look at the 3t bars and stems. Really nice stuff! Only reason i chose Ritchey, is because I've been riding it for years.

I think you're pretty much spot on with the price of your build :P The Italian stuff is expensive! haven't really checked out the Speedplay pedals at all though..

Awesome choice of wheels ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Colnago C59 Nero with Campag Super Record EPS, 3T Stealth handlebars, Colnago stem and seatpost, Fizik Antares OO saddle. Look Keo Blade Ti pedals on Super Record Ti crankset. Colnago carbon bottle cages and Garmin 500 Red edition. Choice of two wheelsets, Lightweight Mielenstein clinchers and for windy days Mavic R-Sys SLR clinchers.

Possibly 140k with LW and an extra 20k for SLR's.

My dream build:

post-24697-0-99619800-1381497609_thumb.jpg

-but without the chain guide and chainring as it is there and add a aqua blue narrow-wide chainring

-also change the seatpost clamp

-add a 160mm pike fork or a 170mm (something)

-and add a set of these:

So yea, basically like Hayley's, but with a few changes. And a ticket price of R 103,000 give or take a few thousand

and that would mean having to give up this beauty... Which just needs a dropper post.
