I'm indulging in a short, sharp taper prior to to Berg and Bush. Or put another way, I send my bike in to the bike shop for a pre-race service.

Am I the only one who seems to get more aches and pains when tapering than when training..?

Especially in the wallet pocket area...

Seriously - there is an explanation for your problems... reduced endorphin levels let you feel your age - start exercising again and they go away.

Yes! It is quite strange.

I always feel niggling or old injuries come up when I am taking a break or tapering.

It is your body reminding you of the all the knocks you took during the year...

I didn't know this happened to so many other people while tapering. I thought it was just down to pre-race jitters. Good to know there is an actual reason that makes perfect sense! :)

I experience the same when I stop exercising suddenly. So, I taper with light riding, never by not riding at all. That makes me feel terrible. All the old mans aches suddenly come out to bug me and that makes me cranky in the head too. V12mans explanation above makes sense.
