Hi All,

I am seriously contemplating getting a carbon rigid fork for my 26" hardtail.

I have been looking around and have seen forks such as the DT Swiss, Ritchey, XCR Pro, On One, ect.

My thing is these forks are in the region of R 5k and up.

Is there any other options that are good that aren't so damn expensive.

I like the look of the On One http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOTCF4709/on_one_monocoque_tapered_carbon_fork,

but it isn't the right axle to crown length.

I would think something around 445 would be similar to my current setup.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I don't know much about technical issues like axle to crown length. But I got a steel fork from Surly that is pretty dam sweet. I have a lekker dik tire up front and don't mis my suspension at all. I can check the fork flexing a little when I ride, don't know if it's good or bad but it works.

Im doing this as a big weight saving,

Would like a sub 700gram fork so that rules out all the steel forks as far as I know.

I have the other carbon rigid from On One on my 26er SS http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOCAR/on_one_carbon_fork

The axle to crown is 440mm and is plenty big enough to run a 650b in there too (have tested), which I will be doing in the near future when I start a new build and convert my Inbred 650b to a SS.

The fork you highlighted is for a tapered? you need that on your 26er? the similar straight steerer is http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOSCF4709/on_one_monocoque_straight_steerer_carbon_fork

Other options to look at Exotic carbon forks http://www.carboncycles.cc/?s=0&t=2 from carboncycles.cc

I am also looking around for a rigid 26" fork, steel or carbon. My existing fork is more than 2kg, so even a steel rigid will be lighter.

I need a straight steerer and axle to crown of between 450-460mm. Difficult to find!

Did look at the chinese sites but the one I wanted was out of stock.

On One do both at the same price.

Mine is heavier (920g) than the ones you are looking at as has a ally crown and steerer. Otherwise am very happy with it. Only have a 2.2 tyre on the front of the 26er and have no issues with the bumps, I actually enjoy rigid over suspension. When the tyre needs replacing will go 2.4
