How on earth are we going to get over this?

Raoul & Naude, she spoke of you many times telling us how she enjoyed riding up Simonsberg with you guys, with the extra weight offcourse, even until a day or two before Sione was born. We were planning of riding Simonsberg early in the new year together...

The driver confirmed in her affidavit that she did see them, but heard a big bang and when she looked in her mirror she saw that she knocked her down.

Zané, ons harte is stukkend maar ons glimlagte breed omdat ons jou kon ken. Jy was super special! Ons was saam die Super 7. Ons mis jou maar sal vir jou 'n "Spekboompie" gaan plant in die berg en jou nooit ooit vergeet nie. Cheers my tjommie!

Sad to hear. People PLEASE cycle single file even in the yellow lane. I know it's not always going to help BUT 10 cm CAN make a difference of life and death. Also look back if you hear the car or truck coming so you can see where the vehicle or truck is. Can't understand cyclist still cycling next to each other, chat at home or at a coffee shop NOT while cycling.

Furthermore these drivers cannot just get a fine of 20k anymore. They must be charged with murder and sentenced. Where is the line dawn between an accident and killing on purpose? How many more of us must die before the Government improves legislation to improve our safety?

On Thursday morning we lost one of the best of us.

The senselessness and the tragedy of this accident is indescribable.

Our world feels a little darker without her smile, her energy and the passion she brought to our sport. Something is missing now.

RIP cyclist.

Maybe a mirror on the bicycle could have changed everything.

Please ensure the cellphone records are checked, even if a PI needs to do it, as well as the legality of the drivers licence.

This is a real tragedy and I pray for strength for family and friends.

For sure the motorist, if in the wrong, should suffer the consequences and I think that this is where organisations like PPA (if the rider was a member certainly) should make sure the issue is publicised and hire a private investigator if needed to support a criminal case.
