Raoul & Naude, she spoke of you many times telling us how she enjoyed riding up Simonsberg with you guys, with the extra weight offcourse, even until a day or two before Sione was born. We were planning of riding Simonsberg early in the new year together... The driver confirmed in her affidavit that she did see them, but heard a big bang and when she looked in her mirror she saw that she knocked her down. I know it's not always going to help BUT 10 cm CAN make a difference of life and death. Also look back if you hear the car or truck coming so you can see where the vehicle or truck is. Can't understand cyclist still cycling next to each other, chat at home or at a coffee shop NOT while cycling.

Where is the line dawn between an accident and killing on purpose? How many more of us must die before the Government improves legislation to improve our safety?

Big H* Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 RIP cyclist. Maybe a mirror on the bicycle could have changed everything. Please ensure the cellphone records are checked, even if a PI needs to do it, as well as the legality of the drivers licence.

For sure the motorist, if in the wrong, should suffer the consequences and I think that this is where organisations like PPA (if the rider was a member certainly) should make sure the issue is publicised and hire a private investigator if needed to support a criminal case.
