Still fantastic value.

Yeah. Definitely fantastic value... Just sold my beginners Silverback and this was always no.1 on my next bike list. Just wondering if there is anything else. Nothing else under R30k?

Silverback slider 1 is also a great option

XT groupset and SLX brakes... Is it worth the extra money? Which frame is better?

You might be able to haggle a Stumpjumper under R30k too.

I sent a quote request on the Stumpy an hour ago. Will see...

Go speak to a good Specialized dealer, like Cycle Funatic in Durbanville, or Cycles Direct in Sunningdale.

Also find out when Specialized have their next demo day. I find I prefer the Spez rear suspension over the Giant Maestro, but you might think different. Best to try them out.

Cyclefunatic is who I contacted... Just down the road from me. Will try to visit them tomorrow.

Just an update 3 more months down the line - The Trance is just getting more fun! :clap:Still no complaints, other than the bottle cage that is awkwardly positioned.

29er... R24k.

That does seem like a good deal! I owned an old 26" stumpy and loved that bike, I have also ridden a few 29" stumpy's. Nice bikes But those big wheels on the stumpy had a few moments where I wasn't comfortable and threw my confidence. I also felt the need for more than 130mm travel.

Kinda hoping that my 26'r trance gets 'redistributed' so the insurance company has to get me a nice new 27.5...

Coming from a Silverback 26er with 100mm travel, I'm sure the Stumpy will have enough travel for me. I want more efficient climbing though. I think the Stumpjumper will probably climb slightly better than the Trance 2, but the Trance will be more fun in the other direction... Very conflicted

Try and test ride both bikes.
