yip did the race, was a toughie, the swim was a bit longer, apparently 1670m.

bike was a toughie, wind and climbing.

run was tough with those hills as well.

enjoyed the race though, I have mailed the organisers to find out when and where the results will be available, will post here if I find out.

now time to recover for Rockman this weekend..

been training for some time now and at long last found out what works for me nutrition wise.big step forward.many months of trial and error.realized again that what works for one person does not always work for another.for me it is more the journey than the race in the end.looking forward with abated breath.

So what do you worry about? I presume it's for EL, right? You have plenty of time left and your already on the right distances.

I'm doing those distances for Jailbreak, and that's two weeks out...

I'm interested to hear what works for you. I had a issue the past two months to get up to taking in 300kcal per hour. I realised it was the 32GI I've been using in combination with GU for running: my body just don't want to accept so much of the 32GI. Switched to GU only during 5 hour brick last week: no problems.

The are using GU on course - they signed a 3 year deal so I will be using GU. No use training with 32GI and then having a more sugar rich product on course ...imho

This is very true - it kinda forces everyone to train with GU as that's what we will get all day long - if you aren't used to it, it could cause some trouble.... I cant say I like it though, it seems to dry my mouth out..

I already use the gels (non caffeine - peanut butter ftw!)

I have previously used the GUbru but cant remember the results except that it was expensive ....

You can say that again! My training session last week cost me R250 just in nutrition!

What do they usually have along the bike and run routes, do ONLY have Gu? Don't they also have bananas, boiled potatoes etc?

I cant afford to drop R200+ every weekend just to train with Gu...

The few times I have used Gu with long runs has caused me to get an upset stomach anyway
