Hi All,

i have a Fiji Feather SS.

lekker little pushy.

however i want to remove the rear "freewheeling" cog from the wheel,

this requires some sort of tool.

the cog i have is a threaded cog.

now i have tried cyclelab and for the past 2 weeks have been sent from piller to post by them. so i've essentially given up on getting help there.

does anyone in the fourways area have a single speed cog puller who can assist me in removing this cog?

here is what the cog looks like that i want to remove

Thanks in advance!

You mean chainwhip and lockring remover....2 tools

Most lbs have them

Nope. Not for this one. This calls for a Park FR-2 or a TL-FW40 from Shimano. Neither are common, but a decent LBS should have one of the two...

now i have tried the ole flathead screw driver and a good wallop but it seems pretty jammed on there...

You'll break a screwdriver before you get that thing loose... it's been torqued on by leg strength.

shot,

i'm heading over to solomon cycles.

i have called and they have the tools

bit of a laugh the largest bicycle store in the southern hemisphere couldn't assist.

and this after 2 weeks of phone calls and bringing the wheel in twice!

total fail on cyclelab's part.

Ja, most of the time the amount of enthusiasm shown to assist is directly proportional to the amount of $'s that will go into their pockets.

That was why I changed to a Shimano compatible hub instead. The screw on BMX cassettes are dirt cheap (R70), but the tool is R325.00...... The other side is probably the side to show where the recess for the tool is.

JB couldn't assist? Shocked and stunned, I am, shocked and stunned...

Last time I spoke to him he had over 400 bikes in the workshop. Chances are he was too busy pivoting about his p*ephol somewhere in the back.
