Which Iphone Bike Mount (and app?)

I hope I have posted in the correct forum.

What mounts are people using to mount their iPhones to their bike when using them as a bike computer?.

Also, which apps do you use?

I have a Polar H7 HRM which I'm using with the Polar Beat app (and because it's one of only a couple of apps which talk to Discovery Vitality).

Also, I have recently been led to believe that two apps can run in tandem, so you can have a cycle computer app running together with Polar Beat for example. Can anyone confirm whether this works.

Hi

I am also fairly new to MTB.. I bought the below off Ebay for a very cheap price and it works perfectly, it is not 100% waterproof though as they say, it will withstand heavy rain though. Mounts very easily and also has a quick release and 360 rotation.

Wrt to apps, I use the paid (R40.00 approx) mountain bike version of Runtastic, I think it is great, but again, it depends what you are wanting to get out of the app. You can plan routes and then follow them, got a wide variety of charts and graphs breaking down a ride, etc.. One thing I don't like about it, but that they are apparently fixing soon, is that you cannot rotate the app to a landscape view.

I don't have any experience with the polar apps, but i honestly don't see why you wouldn't be able to use both at the same time, I have used the mountain bike app as well as a tracking app for seconding my wife on a run and that worked fine. iPhone loves multi tasking...

Hope this helps.

I have a Biologic Case which I bought off Evans Cycles a couple of years ago. I did see the Biologic cases available on one of the SA web stores a while ago, but can't remember which one.

Case is well made and tough, it does however unclip/come loose on the really rough stuff. So i now use a cable tie around the clip as well.

On one of the rides, I was heading down a rocky descent at speed and when I got to the bottom the phone/case had disappeared. I went looking for it thinking the phone was going to be broken, but with the case and a bit of luck (it is an iPhone after all) the phone was fine.

I use the Movescount and Strava apps. As I have Suunto watches, the Movescount app works fine for me and Strava is just for fun. I haven't tried both apps at once though.

@joeboy69. You say you use the wahoo case with battery pack. Which case, cos I don't see one on their site with a battery case, and I don't see mention that the lightning port is accessible either.

Many thanks

Edit: found it...

I bought a RideCase for my iPhone 4s - I keep the backing on for every day use but only use the silicon cover when outdoors in wet conditions. I've ordered a Panobike bluetooth HRM belt (also Topeak). But then I thought - does the HRM drag battery out of the phone? My phone currently operates with Cyclemeter and Strava quite happily but perhaps the BT will add to the load? Any views?
