  1. We had someone go to their actual offices and they appeared to be closed. Just asked here - customers - to find out if anyone has had any issues.
  2. I haven't bought from Buycycle in a long time - I see the site is still up, but a friend said they have actually closed down? Has anyone had a recent buying experience with the business? Or is it really overs?
  3. My beautiful (to me) RM Element carbon FS stolen from Island Lake Caravan Park near Wilderness, WC, on night of Sunday 21 or morning of Monday 22 November 2021. She is an unusual build - large frame, with 27.5 wheel set. Selle Italia saddle. Rockshox front.
  4. I feel your pain. Friends look at me sideways when I ask if they're putting their bikes away while camping. Hope you get your Ghost back.
  5. Thanks Meneer - we were trying to track the owner of a 'found' road bike but it wasn't this one. (Owner located.)
  6. Very excited about this event, back on the calendar!
  7. Ja, sad thing is that one day plain kid mischief is going to be rewarded with retribution of the fatal sort. Simply because people are gatvol.
  8. Report of a similar attack today (also 3rd January!).
  9. LTG, how did your Apple Watch issue resolve? If at all?
  10. We have a family of M-series products from Suunto but it seems they've discontinued them, and more annoyingly, the production of the watch straps. They break way too often and now we can't replace them even. Looking to another brand - but perhaps this built-in obsolescence is a common thing these days? Does Garmin do this?
  11. Add to the list: Holdfast bike carriers, roofracks - www.holdfast.co.za - factory in Cape Town Sludge tyre sealant - Cape Town-based - exports product to Continental tyres in Germany if I'm not mistaken Bridgedale socks - www.bridgedale.com - quality socks manufactured in CT, exported to the US Mudbuster
  12. I need to replace the lenses in my Evil eye sunnies A127 ... anyone know where I can get these? Frames are in great order - lenses obviously not at all ...
  13. Very excited - CCT starts tomorrow. Weather looking good - hopefully third year lucky. A bit chilly in the am. Bracing but beautiful!
  14. Thing is ... it's not a race. I was stuck behind a few people and thought of asking for track (and most people will quite happily give way) and then I remembered why I do the event - so I slowed down, gave them some space, looked at some flowers and then rode on. Have to say that the trick is actually to start way back ... then you have the place to yourself.
  15. Love how patience is a celebrated virtue on these 'tours'. And the concern and care shown as it's not a race at all costs. But I agree Ratty - I chatted to quite a few people who were sold the idea that the HHT is 'for beginners'. It may be an introduction to stage events but it ain't for beginners.
  16. If you do the hostel option, then as a married couple you'll probably get your own room. (We consider it each year - and then we go the own bathroom route.) If your wife isn't actually riding, there may be a discount. Ask, I say. We send our car up to Knysna with a friend who is doing the Knysna MTB.
  17. Milky, ask Gerda about an option whereby your wife and little guy come with you - staying at the same accommodation etc, whichever one you choose. Recommend that if you are thinking about doing it, do it this year as it seems that this may be the last one.
  18. So, who's all coming with to Knysna from Houw Hoek ... via Greyton, Swellendam, Riversdale, Hartenbos, George ... ? Our third - a bit like a MTB Camino de Santiago ... for some of us, anyway.
  19. Our third - different to previous two, mainly because the weather was absolutely perfect and on day 2 the fynbos and (alien) forests were dramatically blackened after the recent fires. Love these events - no racing (although everyone does on some level), lekker gees, new friendships formed. Next up the Cape Country Tour (also our third) and Greyton Tour. Wish there were more like it. Well done to the JK, Gerda and their close team for another event.
  20. I love my Osprey ... I used to have a CB Lobo but my Osprey (see www.ospreypacks.com - they are distributed by Adventure inc here) is a hydration system in another class. Love the easy fill mechanism. Also covered by an awesome guarantee., as is all Osprey stuff.
  21. Yes Yes Yes Yes Do it! Wish there were more of these kinds of events around.
