Bianchisti Posted January 19, 2014 Share Price range for wheelset? The cheaper the better. I need only a rear wheel actually, to go with a Shimano 6800 front wheel as the rear for that now have a IDT specific tyre on.
Bianchisti Posted January 20, 2014 Share Any advice on how to get this tubular puncture sealant fluid down the valve? It seems there is some blockage down the valve cause all the fluid keeps overflowing from the valve. Even though I put the little cap thingy to be used to pour the fluid through in the valve??? Help please.
Clinton - theCOW Posted January 20, 2014 Share Have you taken the valve core out before putting in sealant? Or don't you see a valve core? Could be just an extension they've put over the existing core. I repaired my own Tubby, had a sidewall cut, so i googled and read as much as i could, took off the base tape, undid the stitching, put a patch on the inside, popped the tube back in, sowed the tyre back together, stuck the base tape back on, re-glued the tubby back in place. Haven't had an issue.

Bianchisti Posted January 20, 2014 Share Remove the valve core. I did that. But when I stick the spout of the sealer tube down the valve extender, the fluid doesn't want to go down. It seems to be sucking something that looks like moist paper clots out of the valve. Any ideas?
Cellar Posted January 20, 2014 Share Did it have sealant in before?

Clinton - theCOW Posted January 21, 2014 Share Bianchisti, if you stick something down the valve (i use a toothpick to clean out old gunk) once you removed the core, does it go all the way thru?
Clinton - theCOW Posted January 21, 2014 Share Geez...sounds like a cyclist nightmare (lol) It wasn't that bad, either that or buy a new tubby, think i'm a cheapskate If you ask me if it's worth riding tubbies, i'll still say yes. This year, guys were puncturing (suspect snake bites) on 94.7 after hitting stuff hard, holes, bumps etc. I don't think you can snakebite a tubby too easily if at all. Out of 30 odd of us riding at Racing COWs, think 3-4 of us were rolling tubbies & none of us punctured. It seems I got enough sealant down the valve because it's now fixed it seems. Reinflated the tyre went for a ride and it was all good. Thanks for the help! johannrissik
Bianchisti Posted January 21, 2014 Share It's strange though because the other wheel is now low on pressure. Someone once told me it's not that you never puncture on tubbies but if you do it takes the ttyre a long time to deflate. When he gets home he just puts more air into it and it's fine.
