Hi

Have anyone else noticed that the PPA seedings changed?

I think they have a bug.

Before the Tour de PPA I only had race results for Die Burger 2013.

I was eligible for group N for Tour de PPA.

I had a 20% penalty added to my Burger Index as I only had one event.

Now that penalty is gone and I am eligible for group I according to the website.

But they havn't done a seeding run since Tour de PPA.

Any thoughts?

I don't want to go to PPA for a reseeding and take advantage of a bug.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You'll soon see if you are suited to group I or not and once you've done a few rides, your future seeding will reflect where you should be. I reckon your group position in Tour de PPA means that you should be moving up.

I actually think there was a bug before and now it's been fixed. Because Die Burger is a seeding ride with a timing mat in the middle of the course, it can comprise 100% of your seeding rides with no penalty. Before last week, my seeding comprised of 3 rides and now it is just Die Burger because that is my best so far.

Thanks for the feedback.

It is just strange. So Die Burger is also counting 100% for your seeding.

According to PPA it can only count 50%.

You need more than one result to make up your total seeding. Generally all rides that count will count 1/3 of your total seeding. In other words, the average of your best 3 results will be used. The exceptions to this are events which have intermediate checkpoints along the way. Currently those are the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour, Die Burger Cycle Tour and the Ninety Niner which will each count 50% (half your total seeding, provided they were one of your best two results).

If one of these is your 3rd or worse results, 3 rides will be used. If one of these is your second highest, it will count 50% and the highest the other 50%. If one of these is your best result, it will count 100%.

That is slightly different to what PPA say but it's been like that for quite a while that I've seen.

Unless you feel you did a lightning fast ride at Die Burger that you will never ever repeat again, take the better seeding..

In my personal experience, there there is not a massive difference between the alphabet soup groups until you get to something like G
