nigelhicks Posted January 31, 2014 Share I hear what you're saying about the rust, but in GP that's not an issue. As for the back wheels, I don't strap these down at all and have zero experience with back wheels bouncing around. The bikes are in exactly the same position at the destination, and that's been as far as Sabie. Anyhow, not saying this is the best option, just sharing with Titan29er because he seems to prefer this method. Yeah dude - not chooning the option at all - it does work well - just my experience with it is all

RudoJ Posted February 4, 2014 Share This is how I do it on my double cab - I like my bikes inside the bay.I've kept the original QR fittings and added a 15mm thru axel. That way I can carry any road, MTBs, etc. Fittings were R250 a piece from the LBS.What's the total cost of the setup besides the QR fittings? This is what I wanna doThanks

Baaisikilist Posted February 7, 2014 Share Perhaps you didn't quite understand Omega's suggestion - which is quite understandable... Any thick blanket/rubber mat/hillbilly cardboard will work over the tailgate.Have a look here: http://pt.tmci.me/20/dakine-tailgate-pad http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5wyknom2Nnw/TIb0LrVJr4I/AAAAAAAABdI/nCPHwICWs9A/s320/Dakine2.jpg http://www.bustedspoke.com/Photos/bs7824.jpg http://www.functionality.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/dakine-pickup-pad.jpg Are you allowed to shuttle bikes on the spruit...? ricochet_rabbit Posted February 7, 2014 Share If you have the cash to spare Thule make the 822XT that you can easily swap between vehicles and it requires no drilling.
ricochet_rabbit Posted February 7, 2014 Share or something very similar to this wouldn't cost too much to make either. you could even rubberise the base plates so it dont scrtach the side of the bakkie bin.
