  1. The early Campagnolo EPS battery required a hole in the frame to mount the charging port. I'm not aware of many frames having this, so we had to make a plan to accommodate this. I nervously drilled a 5mm hole into a brand new Bianchi XR4 frame to mount this, check the the pic. It's 5 years, and no problems to date. It looks like the carbon is well engineered for small things like this.
  2. I've been using the 2-24Nm one for a few years now and it's been great value for money. It's paid off itself with the components I never broke through the years.
  3. There's a sturdy bolt underneath the bracket that must be tightened when the towbar is put in place. If you tighten it properly, the skelms can't pull that out without a wrench of sorts to loosen it.
  4. Super service from Andrew and Jon. I ordered my R8000 Shimano, it was delivered within 24 hours. Works like a charm, really pleased with my purchase.
  5. The SAMSUNG sponsorship with Lampre is European based, not SA. They were already sponsoring Lampre last season.
  6. Sub 5 kilo's for a complete road bike; 1 kilo for frame + fork: I'm Speechless! Well done Merida, although I see a lot of resemblance with the Tarmac SL5.
  7. True that. But have you thought what implications the fire has had on the city? We're popping in and out - these people have to carry on with their lives despite the setbacks. We need to count our blessings...
  8. What I still cannot accept are the CSA's reasons for the 7 week delay in announcing the initial result. If they had expedited that, Daryl may have gone to the TdF.
  9. Chapeau!!! The man (and the pets) deserve our support. Payment made via PayFast.
  10. This problem is not unique to the Gautrain. In the Netherlands, bicycles are allowed on certain designated train coaches only, and you have to buy a "dagkaart fiets" ticket for your bike which costs you 6 Euro. I don't suppose they ever considered this for the Gautrain, so they need to go back to the drawing board and come up with proper options. We need to keep the trains in good nick, and they need to support the idea of carrying bicycles on the trains.
  11. Never mind the Russians. I wonder what the Dutch were on....
  12. Locate my Mobile is a standard feature built into the S4. You just need to activate it under SYSTEM SETTINGS > SECURITY and it's always on. You can then track it online as long as it is switched on. Check the screenshots.
  13. I'm perfectly happy with SQUIRT on my road bike in Gauteng, where it doesn't rain much. I clean the chain with one of those chain cleaning contraptions, and apply it once a week. All my chains (Campag 10 spd) have lasted > 10,000km's on average.
  14. Awesome racem Did the 50km and enjoyed the route. Some scary bits, hot, dusty and fast at times but worth the drive and entry fee. Are the results out yet?
  15. Thanks guys / ladies, appreciate the feedback and am reading about these on the web to get more info. I like the part of the guys meeting up in Broadacres, nothing beats meeting the people and experiencing the camaraderie first hand.
  16. Thanks Mike. Google's my friend, got the web site URL.
  17. In the Fourways area.
  18. A relative wants to take his riding to the next level and is contemplating joining a MTB club in the north. He's relatively fit and wants to spend time on routes in the area rather than in the spin studio. Anyone care to give advice and share experiences?
  19. I'm 1.70m tall and was in the market for a dual suspension MTB. I was fortunate enough to be able to try both the 27.5 and 29 Scott Spark versions before committing. Both bikes were stock standard MEDIUMS with identical equipment. Coming from a HT, I felt a major difference when turning on the 29" (expected). The 650B was a pleasure in this space. In the end, I opted for the 650B. This is a standard by now and wheels, tyres, etc. are hitting the market with all the options. I've no doubts I would have adapted to the 29", but on the 650B I felt at home almost immediately. Like some of the guys mentioned, try both and see what you'll feel best on. You can't go wrong either way. BTW, I worked from the Bioracer sizing system an the recommended frame size was a 43.2cm (17") C-T.
  20. Just spoke to Rob, he's waiting for feedback from the suppliers. Will let you know as soon as he calls me back.
  21. Didn't know Pro-Lite now has an SA distributor - I'm a fan and these wheels look beautiful, but slightly heavy at 1821g.
  22. Very cool, I dig it. I'm already picturing these on my bike, hope Rob makes my weekend
  23. Thanks Brandon. Will call Rob and see if he can do the same deal for me.
  24. Helpful advice, thanks. AC is bragging about the (better) wider rim. What tyres have you fitted on these - TLR or normal? And your experience mounting them?
