Hi Everyone,

I see things are going a bit crazy here.

Hanco, I don't really get why things are going so crazy here. Before you guys launched this series, there weren't many events aimed at AM riders. My opinion is that the more the merrier! XC okes are spoilt for choice but we aren't. Personally I welcome EVERY opportunity to expand our options. As just one spin-off of your efforts, for example, the AM trails at Steilte have been quite a long wait but just through hosting this event, we may now see these expanded sooner, rather than later.

As an analogy, I often frequent certain bars and restaurants where the service is decidedly crappy.... BUT... the food is good and the VIBE is awesome! I keep going back hoping that the lousy aspects will improve. It never does, but I keep going back because I have FUN. On days where my sense of humour/time available might not cope with the conditions, I just stay away (I don't go and lambaste the place online). By contrast I stay away from places that offer fantastic service but NO vibe.

I've not made either of your races so far but hope to make the third one. If things run a little late, I will shoot the breeze with my mates while we wait, like I have at others. My main concern is the trails themselves - just keep making them fun, fast, flowing and reasonably tech with plenty roots, rocks, drops and jumps and I will be a happy chappie!

Keep up the good work! I have no doubt you guys will get slicker....

Thanks OF, we will indeed do that.

We like to use quality trails over quantity, that explains the 2 stages used in the previous enduro.

Good trails are much better and much more fun. We always try to make the SS's fun for the riders, that is why they come to ride.

We will keep up the good work. We are already busy planning the next one. Because of this thread a few people has stepped forward already offering help.

Hanco, thanks for the reply. Apologies to you for my responses to KarateMonkey. I was lead to believe he was you.

So just to make it clear, the issues raised herein that actually relate to the race and organisation of said event were raised in a very civil manner. The poo hit the fan when KM went all self-righteous about Meurant, to which I felt compelled to respond.

So. I want to state here that I commend you for the response. Your suggestions seem constructive and should have a positive impact on the few issues regarding start times. The seeding plan makes brilliant sense. An elegant and professional solution which will allow people to plan accordingly. Kudos.

As far as I'm concerned the trails thus far have been awesome. I can only think of Welvanpas that may be better suited than the venues and trails used thus far. Luckily we already have that booked for an Enduro so in the end I reckon there won't be a single enduro that can be blasted for crappy trails.

I trust this is the end of it. Cheers.

Hi Nico,

All good.

Hope to see you at the next one!

Must say that while I detest waiting for anything, sitting atop a beaut mountain with views to kill for isn't the worst place to be. It was just so damn cold up there.

I think a staggered start would help the race start bottleneck. Arriving later would also cut the overall standing around time quite a bit. You could have driven from CT at 8, spent another 1.5hrs at home or asleep, and still had enough time to make the start. The total waiting around was about 3 hours for me... Next one I'll plan my day a bit better.

While the tracks at Steilte were amazing, I like a good ride as well. An enduro with some distance in between the stages would add to the all round all mountain effect. I also use the ride up top get the flow going which is tricky when the up is as unrelenting as steilte.

The Jonkers event was a bit more like that and I think that is what we should aim for in general. How about a Tokai enduro. There's enough there for 2 longish stages. SS1 the 4 snakes, SS2 Vasbyt and My Roots. (Or we could go illegal and have a third Horse trail/slippery roots SS3  :whistling:

I was actually going to map out a route this weekend just to see what we could get if it were at tokai

The Switchbacks it would've been an option. Already sent you guys my ideas (a couple of times now)

No need to map it out really. Strava is a useful tool

Ya, true, the dh line could be SS3 - say from DH 1 to the bottom. a bit of scope for mayhem there though due to the jumps and such like which some will not have ridden or even seen.

I would think that DH line would be SS1 and Vasbyt SS3 (assuming Switchbacks and illegals aren't used).

Having one stage ending at the start another could be an issue

Why dont organisers adopt a number system at Registration. (sort of like getting a visa at use embassy etc) Each rider has a number and is expected to start at a certain time as per the number . eg number 45 starts ss1 at 9:38 etc etc. If you miss your start time back of the que you go.

DH0 - My Roots be one mighty fine SS....

Whoop-whoop!

As long as okes are looking down the trail, everything has a ride-around. Maybe temp signs for the day showing the gap distance on doubles?

That was my original thinking, but some people complained it was maybe a bit too long.

Yeah I know. Still have the mails.

There are actually a number of options for the route. Nothing twice.

Just wanted to check it out for myself really
