Rank Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Hi guys.....this is my first post....I am new to cycling having last rode when I was in school......I am looking to ride with my kids on weekends for fun......I decided on a mountain bike with a max R5k budget.I need some help and advise in choosing a bike. I visited some bike shops and was considering one of the 2 below: - Giant Revel 4: R3.8k- Silverback Stride 10: R5k The Silverback has hydraulic disk brakes so was leaning towards this. Which of the two is a better option? are there any other models you can advise on...thanks again.

But I suggest looking for a decent 2nd hand bike in classifieds on this here HUB. you will get something nicer than if you buy new. If possible ask a friend that knows his bikes to help you look. kees21 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Read up on what you should look out for in a bike and buy second hand (via the Hub classifieds). Bought my girlfriend a brand new Merida TFS300 for R5k on the Hub. Saved about R3.5k! Rank 1
Rank Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Thanks for the help....I already have a helmet so budget is just for the bike...will have a look at the used and post assistance for ones I consider.....I have seen a new Scott Aspect 620 which seems to have quite good specs for R5500....any opinions on this?
