Ok, so I am converting my spark 26er to a 27.5. I got a nice set of wheels and a nice fox fork, but the fork is quick release and the front wheel is a thru axle. Any converters or something I can use to use it together? Not clued up with all the technical stuff. And if theres something like that - where can I get one and appr. what price? Thanks guys!!

What hubs? What size thru-axle? 15mm or 20mm?

If your hubs are shimano then good news...

...you get to throw them away! win-win

If oyu have Hope, Superstar, American Classic, certain Sun Ringle, Nuke Proof, or one of many other sealed bearing type hubs then chances are there might be an adapter for you.

Hope and Superstar are a sure bet though, and take 30s to convert.

Not 100% true, if 15mm then the Mavic 15mm-QR adapters will work.

Not to deviate the thread, but whats wrong with the shimano hubs? reason I ask is that i got shimano xt hubs with sun inferno rims, and I am wanting to replace the rims with something better and I'm still deciding if i should replace the hubs

I'd still throw them away though  I seriously don't know why Shimano lives in the past with their cup-and-cone system.

Nothing wrong with cup and cone, the can be built as strong but occupy less space than the equivalent sealed bearing unit.

If looked after correctly, they will last for years. But if the cups are stuffed, then the hub is pretty much stuffed.

Hope etc. you replace the bearing (this is basically the cup AND cone)

The only other downside with Shimano is that once you've picked an axle size, that's it. (Aside from your Mavic adaptor trick earlier.)

Other than that, great. Been running a set of XT for 6 years with no issues.

Have a set of cup and cone hubs on my Miyata from 1988 and they still run perfectly (granted it's a road bike)

30s if you can get them that quick, online order from SuperStar can take a 'wee' while :whistling:

Also saw this on Flea Bay....

Anybody tried this? The adapter slips in the hub just like the 15mm thru axle would. The wheel is then mounted and secured with a standard 5mm shaft quick release.

I have something similar on the rear with my 12mm thru-axle and it works well, a bit heavy but fine.

I reckon the Mavic ones are just as good. Used it on the exact same hub that Lollos is talking about. takes less than 30s to push in and put the supplied 15mm QR lever through
