A fine race as always. The mtb route had some "real" mountain biking in it which is cool. Nice to see multi sport getting a bit technical - run was also nice and varied.

Great day out!

I enjoyed it - first run was pretty fast, and the MTB route was a lot of fun - very similar to last year, so I knew what to expect. Not sure about the tyre-carrying thing though - I suppose they are trying to make it a bit different.....but do they need to change something which worked so well last year I wonder....

Guys. Before getting Excited about the event, check with the organisers if it is gonna go on, see they are getting the area ready, but you guys wont be able to swim in the river, due to 7 gates open at vaal dam, the duathalon will be fine.

Hi Guys

WE sent out correspondence this morning about this but for those that didn't receive it, the Swim leg has been cancelled due to the water conditions, so we will only be having a Duathlon race, but be sure that this is going to be an exciting event GET READY TO GET DIRTY!

hope to see you all there

I hope the MTB route has been moved slightly away from the rivers edge. Last year I almost bliksemed

in twice and that was when the water level was really low.....

Andymann, we have some water wings for you :whistling:

seriously though, it all depends on what the water level does in the next couple of days... we have a contingency plan in place should the water level increase so much that we have to cut out the single track section along the river

Hey guys any tips for a first timer on multisports .....running shorts under padded shorts ? Do I take my running shoes and cleats ? Or just go with flat pedals ? Any tips and tricks would be awsome

Posted

I use a trisuit, cleats and running shoes, but my husband cycles in shorts. The distance is not that long, so cycling pants are not really necessary. I would never trade my cleats for takkies ... considering the transition time is only a few seconds to change from cleats to running shoes, specially if you have those elastic laces that you can get from any trishop. And now that the swim is cancelled, transitions are even faster..

Also, put all your stuff in a plastic box. Remember your helmet has to be fastened when you enter the transition area, and you cannot unfasten it until you park your bike after the ride.

Thanks for the reply I will invest in a trisuit but for now the shorts will have to do ....looking forward to the event and thanks for all the tips its much appreciated

How was that mud yesterday......

And seriously, do all the cows congregate in that one position near the river and have a communal crap, or was it just one cow with a large stomach.....

And how many of you caught yourself thinking when we heard the shots at the shooting range, was that a gun, or was it a cricket bat on a door. I know I did :whistling:
