It all kicks off on Saturday!

This is it. The spring classics. The heart and soul of bike racing. For me, everything else comes second. The mud and the rain and the cobbles, the Koppenberg, the Muur, the Mur de Huy. This is the domain of the hard man, the bare knuckle fighter, the working class hero, no place for pretty boys or panzies.

Wiggins will wilt under the pressure, the little English rose.

So much for the "new" rules

New for 2014: loyal readers will recall the new UCI rule requiring riders to stick to the road, cycle paths and other shortcuts are forbidden and it’ll be interested to see how well this is enforced by the commissaires.

Not sure if it made any difference to result but why have the rule and then not enforce it?

Will be tough to enforce now that they've allowed it. Same as mechanic working on bike from team car instead of at back of bunch when stationary or lubing of chains. Also remember the level crossing issues, as long as you didn't get caught.
