My son got a big interest in BMX racing but I don't find any tracks in the Western Cape or a club.

years ago we had 2 tracks in Northern Suburbs but nothing now... ?

Can someone direct me to a track or club

The guys rebuilt the kraal fountain track but there is just not enough interest in Cape Town to even get the club up and running, the track is rideable though

There's a bit of a course at UCT, just as you take the Woolsack Drive turnoff from the M3, heading out of town. It's on the left, but I'm not sure how you'd actually get there to park.

I will check it out at UCT and Kraaifontein and give feedback soon

We had the decision now whether to buy BMX or mountain bike and chose mtb as there are no bmx tracks near us and not much happening in the western cape but there are loads of XC events for kids.

Its sad though. My son loves the little track at Thandi and its great for them to learn bike handling skills.

I started my son with Strider BMX racing this year, he's only two and rides a push bike. They do the last two straights of the track.

BMX is still going strong in JHB with Kempton, Alrode and Germiston still on the calendar.

I ended up getting myself a 24" Cruiser to take part this year as well (just getting the practice in - its been nearly 20 years since I last raced!)

But ja, great sport for the kids, my son rides an entire BMX track at the age of 2 and I put it down to his little Strider bike that's taught him how to balance.

There is still quite a scene up here in GP.

I don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but the other day I was out training, and I spotted a place called Syndicate BMX along High Road out of Benoni.
