I have an issue of water / mud entering the cable at the actuator below the seat on my KS Supernatural dropper even with the rubber 'mud / water guard' fitted.

This is not a very well isolated system for wet conditions.

Has anyone fitted a proper 'mudguard' on theirs to prevent these trouble makers?

Try a sealed cable ferrule, it may help. If you can't find one PM me and I'll post you a set.

Do those ferrules seal 100% ?

If so I NEED them.

Was considering this

I dont have a mud guard solution for you but I have a work around for you, I used a small spring, half of the one you might find in a bic pen to keep the ink cartridge in place is what I used, put it between the actuation lever and the cable stop.

It doesn't stop the mud getting in but does help prevent the cable getting stuck so the seat will move or not when you need it to at least till the end of your ride till you can clean it out.

Thanx DaddyG, but I'm looking for a 'prevention is better than cure' solution.

Something like the sealed ferrule, rubber boot or home made plastic mudguard. (Which might look a bit 'back yard job' )

That sounds like the ferrule that droo was talking about.

I will be in jhb area either tomorrow or thursday so if anyone can direct me to a lbs that might have a couple of these i will first try get from them directly (i have 2x droppers the pamper)

If I fail (or don't have free time) I will take you up on your offer. Thanx a lot!

Nothing will seal 100%, but 80% is better than nothing... that thing you posted a photo of is a boot, not a ferrule - I'm talking about the little caps that go on the end of the cable outers. Quaxar and Alligator make ones with o-ring seals in them that keep most of the crud out. There should be an LBS in range that stocks them.

Yeah 80% is better than nothing for sure!

I know that's a boot & not a ferrule :w00t:

Sorry if my post was a bit unclear.

I meant I wanted to try the boot as I think that can keep out a lot of the crud & combined with the O-ring sealed ferrule (you mentioned) it can be the 'ultimate' solution.

Maybe a silly answer, but does your cable run to the back of the post? If it does, turn it to sit at the front. Max mud and water behind, hardly any in front. You can do that with a Lev.

I'm also presuming that the water/mud is getting in at this end. If it's your remote end then just forget this post.
