Good morning Hubbers,

I am planning a trip to Knysna from 21st to 28th of April to ride some of the forest trails. Are there any hubbers out there who would like to catch up for a ride and/or who have tips on rides?

I plan to try to ride Harkerville, Petrus se Brand and perhaps some trails near Phantom Pass.

Anyone have advice on where to park safely while I ride? And where to get a lift to Petrus se Brand, as I believe it is a one-way ride.

Thanks.

Thanks. Have you been there?

Nope, never ridden there but there is a nice write up in the latest Tread magazine.

I have been thinking of doing a trip there on the dates you have mentioned, would be based from Harkerville are though but nothings confirmed.

Thanks. I had a look online but couldn't find a reference. I'll buy a copy at lunchtime. Let me know if you make it there and want to ride.

I just got back from Knysna and rode the Garden route Trail park. It was amazing. Best trail i have ridden in SA. If you like fast sweeping singletrack then you will love it. Trails are about 20-25km but you can loop back and forth adding more distance. Check out their website. http://www.gardenroutetrailpark.com/. Just follow the trails from yellow, then blue and then red. They will each eventually flow into the other colour. Enjoy, am super jealous.

winesteyn, thanks very much for this. I looked at the site and the pictures look great. Getting keen now. Do you just pitch up there and ride? And is it safe to leave your car there while you ride? No threat of break-ins?

Been at Garden Route trail park weekend before last. Super trails!

Yesy you pitch up, park, pay at the honesty box, pick up a map and off you go! You park at the farmers house, so I guess it is safe, I went for a 2 hour ride and my car was unscathed when I got back. R50 gets you a permit to ride, they are busy on the trails all the time and it is getting better every day. The yellow route was by far the most fun for me, blue is awesome at the top, did not get round to do the red route or the extension that goes into Cape Nature area.

Thanks. It will be one of the rides I do. I also want to get into the forest somewhere but I'm sure people there will be able to give me pointers about where to go.

This looks like the Harkerville Red Route. They are talking about the Garden Route Bike Park Red Route. Harkerville Red is great though. :D
