  3. Maybe more riders should invest in full face helmets looking at the amount of facial injuried. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  4. Good article regarding what to do. I have been practicing and found that when leaning the bike it helps to push down into the turn and have to hand at the top as light as it can be. Disclaimer, I really suck at cornering, but have small epiphanies. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  6. Jonkershoek: R500 for annual membership from the date of permit. Not sure how much the family membership is, but they have one.

  8. Rich990, on 29 Aug 2016 - 5:59 PM, said: Hi, Just to check. Does bicycle helmets fall into tariff heading 6506.10.90 which is for: Other headgear, whether or not lined or trimmed: Safety headgear: Other If it does it attracts 25% duty? See page 404 of “LAPD-LPrim-Tariff-2012-04 - Schedule No 1 Part 1 Chapters 1 to 99”. Or am I wrong in this assumption?
  9. Also had loads of issues getting my tire off the rim. Eventually found this video. Watch from around 1:30. Don't pull on the spokes but rather the rim. It takes about 10 seconds to get both sides of. Once you have broken a little bit of the bead of the tyre off the rim, use some tyre levers to do the rest. Video: https://youtu.be/3Cs4y8K5hiU
  10. Ouch! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  11. That was pretty amazing, the acceleration past Sagan and then pulling away from Kittel. Think he was driven by pure passion. Nice words from him during the interview and his daughter is looking forward to the flowers. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  12. I am looking at some trials skills to try and do some low speed stuff. Look at how to do a wheelie drop. Ryan Leech has a good series (where this video is from) on balance and trials skills. Speed is definitely your friend, but if you can master the slow speed trials type skills you are so much more versatile. https://youtu.be/-9M67u_X8M4
  13. Bloemendaaler from the top is closed for another week or two, they are busy rebuilding the trail.
  14. I always though wearing a heavier pack makes you go faster on the down hills, gravity and all that physics stuff
  15. I got mine from Trac-Mac in Belville, R135 if I can remember correctly, they have different shades as well, I got a brown, clear and orange replacement. Just call them and ask if they have in stock. Trac-Mac BellvilleTel: 021 945 3724
  16. Not sure how I got onto Slytech, but they have some nice stuff. Not sure if you can even get the stuff here. I have been looking around for what is out there as well, especially for my back as that is what am most worried about (already wear FF, goggles, knee and elbow guards and Mule with back protector when we do more DH stuff). http://slytechprotection.com/product-category/2015/dirt/back-protectors-dirt/
  17. To change the travel on the Pike, you need to change the air shaft. You need a 140mm and a 150mm airshaft and change them out depending on which wheel size you are in.
  18. Went to look at the Kraaifontein track a few months ago and it looked as if some 4x4's were playing on it, tyre marks everywhere.
  19. Rode the red on Saturday. Top section of the red at the start is very loose and powdery/sandy. The trail really need a lot more water to compact before riding. Think that trail is going to be destroyed before the end of summer. Middel and bottom bits are okay, breaking up in places, but is very flowy and fun.
  20. Thanks for the explanation, makes sense. So the 1.1 is the handling fee? What is the purpose of the clearance fee of R39? Is that standard for the PO? Thanks! Eventually I will know how this import stuff works.
  21. See my edit, they have a calculator on their website, but it is way off from what I was charged on.
  22. So I also had a very favorable experience from them, ordered odds and ends (grease gun, tyres, bb tool, some brake pads, but the grease gun was the main order as I can't get it out of the local agents and the rest was just to maximize value from the shipping). Ordered on the 21st October and it was here at the Post Office last Friday, 29th October. What I did however found interesting is the calculation of VAT and the exchange rate that was used by Customs. Total on which VAT was charged was the actual products and not on the shipping (nice to know that shipping is excluded). The products were €136.47 and that translated to R316.19 VAT payable (on top of that was the R39 handling fee), this translates to R16.55/€1.00, the parcel went through Customs on the 27th October and according to XE.com, spot price (not buy/sell price) was R15.20/€1.00. When I purchased on the 21st Oct XE price was R15.35/€1.00 and Paypall charged me R15.66/€1.00. Does anyone know where Costoms get their exchange rate information from? Edit: Okay, to answer my own question. There is an online SARS exchange rate calculator: http://tools.sars.gov.za/rex/Rates/Default.aspx This however gives me a rate for the 27th Oct of R15.27/€1.00! Got screwed here.
  23. Got a Super 2R, paid 30% duties, 10% handling and 14% VAT as I chose DHL as courier. Worked out at about the same price as a carbon full face!
  24. Found this on a Spanish forum. The new Santa Cruz Bronson V2 When we introduced Bronson, it took the market by storm, redefining what people expected from a 150mm trail bike. Equally at home in the Trans-Provence as it was on The Ridge, updating and improving it was going to be no small feat. The most visible upgrade is the completely new VPP® link arrangement. The lower link tucks neatly above the bottom bracket, fully-recessed and protected from impacts. Meanwhile the box-section upper link now mounts cleanly to the top-tube and enhances lateral stiffness as a result. Shock rate’s been in refined in the process too, delivering greater small bump sensitivity and a more progressive mid-stroke. Geometry has also evolved subtly to meet demand from riders for a bike of this ilk. The seat tube angle’s been steepened, placing the rider right above the cranks and perfectly in position to lay down the power. Meanwhile a one-degree slacker 66 degree head tube angle combines with a 20-25mm longer top tube and shorter chainstay length to create an ever more rally-ready geometry than its predecessor. By using a slightly-less-expensive carbon fiber, we were able to put performance within reach of more riders than ever before, lifting the race pace of World Cup athletes and privateers alike. The stiffness, durability, and strength are identical between the two materials, but the C-level carbon weighs in at about 280 grams more than the top-end, CC carbon. 148mm Rear Axle Spacing.
