The Elusive Rigid 29 inch Fork

BS...rigid might be less comfortable, but slower....aikona pel. We can put the theory to the test at lets say oom piets at fun gaalens or maybe hakanana's rinkhals descent....

Keen?

I agree. I dont find that I'm any slower than my riding mates on their suspended hardtails or dual sus bikes.

I have two rigid forks and if you look at my times on some of the rougher downhills in Gauteng, I have a few top 10s, plenty top 20s and i'm always in the top 10% according to a little program that rhymes with palava. haha.

Riding a rigid for the last 4 years has taught me to carry speed , read line alot faster and futher out and ride smoother.

Yip you give most a pakslae with their monster travel going down the rougher stuff.

Smoother = Faster thats all.

Rinkhals at hakanana would be a great place to test said theory....if we have any takers

Would be very dependant on the relative skills and fitness of the competing riders. Could work if you have a good number of varied ability from both groups.

Still, fast Enduro riders on long travel bikes will always be faster than fast rigid riders down gnarly trail.

I think I didnt get my point across correctly, not measuring the times between different guys, that is pointless. Its like measuring me against greg m, him on a rigid, he will klap me for sure....

I say same rider....one run on a

Rigid

100mm fork

120-160mm fork

could be interesting

You would have to own and ride all 3 often to take part.

Ah but that is where we will have to help each other....I have a rigid and 100mm but not a big travel. So we can mix and match ito the runs....ie I will let you ride mine if you let me ride yours

Needless to say, wife and girlfriends are NOT welcome at this event

nice!

But you will get very close to the Rapide price for that fork.

and the Rapide is carbon, and it looks the Shiz...

My fate is sealed with Rapide,

a) I like the price

b) I like the look

a) I like the price

My SS has a Syncros carbon rigid, and I love it. Great for climbing.

Did 50kms at Holla yesterday and it was a blast.

The route markings weren't though...

I've had a couple of rigid forks and my favourite is my Niner RDO. Tracks straight and true and goes where I point it. Previously had one of the tubular carbon forks with the bonded crown and dropouts, which was quite twangy and got bounced off line quite easily, very similar to a steel fork.
