P-Clips / Band Clamps Availability

Hi there,

 

I will be embarking on a cycle tour soon and I am needing to mount racks / panniers onto my bike. My bike however doesn't have any eyelets for a rack so i will need to use P-Clips or Band Clamps or whatever you wish to call them to mount the rack onto my seat stays. I see they are for sale on some cycling sites but im not willing to pay R120+ for them.

 

Has anyone seen these available at Builders warehouse or any hardware shops?

A couple of weeks ago I saw Thule showcasing some fancy pannier and storage systems. Have a look at what they offer.

You can get those P clips at some automotive shops and hydraulic hose suppliers - should be easy to find.

Try Wurth. We used them on race cars sometimes.

I got mine at builders warehouse in Tygervalley, but that was 7-8 years ago.

 

Still have a bag of all the different sizes that I bought to make sure I have the right size for our different bikes. Let me know if you need something urgently and cant find them.

 

ps - tape your frame with isolation tape first below that rubbers.

There is a guy, Grant Freeme at Touring SA google) who sells these for touring.

I think I have a post post mount fitting for a rack lying about. Will check this evening.

Thanks for the advice guys, haven't had a chance to go to builders or anywhere like that yet so will do so on the weekend, tried to find some in CBD to no avail!

Managed to get some from Nils @ WS Cycleworks - I didn't find any at Builders or Midas / Auto Shops
