Event Name: PHILADELPHIA MTB

NEW EVENT in the scenic farmlands near Durbanville. All three distances will start in the beautiful village of Philadelphia, heading towards the first climb on the farm Kerkplaas. From there the route goes into the beautiful Uitkyk valley, surrounded by vineyards. Crossing rivers and farmlands, the medium and short routes will turn back towards Philadelphia while the long route will continue towards Klipheuwel, turning at Inhoek before returning via Remhoogte and Swellengift. The routes offer single track farm roads, river crossing, some gravel roads and vineyards providing something for everyone.

 

  • 63 km route - Elevation Gain/Loss: 791m; -795m Max slope: 14.4%; -24%

  • 40 km route – Elevation Gain/Loss: 650m; -653m Max slope: 14.9%; -23%

  • 14 km route – Elevation Gain/Loss: 209m; -213m Max Slope: 16.4%; -10.8%

DIRECTIONS TO VENUE

From Cape Town, follow the N7 towards Malmesbury for approximately 25 km until you pass the Swartland 1-Stop Engen service station on your left. At the next intersection, turn right onto the R304 to Philadelphia / Stellenbosch. After approximately 2.5 km, Philadelphia will be on your left.

 

From Paarl / Stellenbosch, take the R304 until Klipheuwel. Turn left onto the R304 towards Durbanville, passing the silos on your right. Just after the silos, turn right onto the R304 to Philadelphia / Atlantis. After approximately 15 km, Philadelphia will be on your right.

the 1st long route group goes off at 8am, then in batches after that usually 5minutes or so after that, then the medium route & then the shorter distances, its difficult to give an exact time since the organisers have no idea how many people will rock up on the day. Just be there & ready from 8am & hang around the start area or in your start chute & wait to be called forward by the marshalls.

What's wrong? The cut off is at the river crossing not the end? PPA website has all the details

Thanks, I've already entered. The info still doesn't show starting times for the different races though. Also, does the cut-off seem right? It's my first 40km race and 3 hours (assuming 8:30 start) for 40kms feels rather little...especially with rain forecasted.

It is a flattish 40kms, 3 hours is enough time
