I have a pair of Lake MX170 MTB shoes with the Boa cable lacing system & the dial on the one shoe has got stuck & won't tighten the cables. Does anyone know where I can get the special Boa tool to open the dial to investigate what the problem is? I watched a Youtube video & it seems that there's a small tool with a yellow handle that is needed to loosen the dial to open it up. The tool fits into the centre of the dial & is loosened by turning anti clockwise.I think some Specialized shoe models also use the same cabled lacing system.

Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of the Boa tool here in Cape Town?

If I'm not mistaken the Spez shoes use that tool.

I have one in JHB...

What about stopping in at a Spez concept store with the shoe and asking if the tool is the same...?

Try Olympic Cycles. I bought some spare Boa dials from them last week when they got Spez spares stock in. Hopefully they'll sort you out or be able to order you the small tool if they don't have it in stock.

You can get extra Boa fasteners from their website shipped here as replacements which includes the tool. Just Google it or go to the Specialized website. Took about 7 days and i had three new sets of fasteners including the tool.

I am sure Specialized stores will have, but its not rocket science. Its just a tiny Allen key so you don't even need the tool to open it.

FWIW: Each shoe uses different fastener so you need to get the correct one for your shoe model. All the detail is on the Boa website.

I don't think its a normal allen key. I have same on my Spez shoes and I almost sure you need a T6 Torx bit/tool. They are pretty easy to find.
