Decided to can Amashova and rather tackle this beast on Saturday...

Can't wait...!

Are you starting from Himeville or Underberg? :)

It's a fun ride - especially on the way down again... enjoy it.

Everyone should do it at least once. When descending it is quite hard on the brakes and difficult to go really fast on the upper sections because the road is made up, in a large part, of round basalt pebbles and grit of various sizes. This stuff rolls around a bit under your tyres so it affects braking and cornering.

Enjoy but take care.

Staying at Sani Valley Nature Lodges, just outside Himeville. Probably 65ish km from there summit.

Reports say were in for a for a windy assent on Saturday .

Good luck, did it a couple of years ago with a hectic wind, started suffering from vertigo near the top, but great experience.

If you start 65 km out, you will be nicely warmed up by the time you get to the real ride...  (the last 6km's of switchbacks) you

enjoy the tip, it's a great ride.  and take care with the coming down part, not because its dangerous, but because the beer at the pub up top is so damn good!

Sani valley lodges is a really cool place to stay.

Just factor in weather changes. We left too late in the morning and caught rain on the way down.

Descent is spectacular.

Watch out for some dodgy taxis as you begin the dirt road.
